I have played every FF on NES, SNES and all PS systems.
FF7 is a 8/10. I still think the first is the best with number 6 running closely behind.

7/10. One of the most overrated games I've ever played. I loved the battle system, but the story was just awful. Cloud was not that interesting of a main character IMO. When it comes to spiky haired quiet swordsmen I prefer Crono. FF really didn't blow up until this game was released so a lot of the consumers that played it didn't get to play the previous installments. Nowhere near as fun or interesting as FFIV/FFVI, which are the two best FF ever made.

I give it a 10/10. Its the game that got me into the Final Fantasy series and RPG games in general. Plus its story and characters are epic from start to finish.

7.4/10 because cloud not knowing who he was ended up giving me a terrible head ache or maybe something else give me the headache I definitely got a real headache during the time I was trying to figure out what he was up to. overall once he worked it out, it was good.

edit: that is not really fair reasoning going to raise the score from 6.8 to 7.4.

Like darthdevidem, was my favorite when it came out, but it's currently my 3rd!

I've played Final Fantasy VI, VII, VII, IX, X, XII, and am on my way to beating XIII

I've played every FF and would rate FF7 as a 10.

Even though I had played many RPGs and technically impressive games like Super Mario 64 before playing FFVII, it still blew me away like no one game ever have and immersed me into a world that I wanted to explore everything part of, both in terms of gameplay and story. Even in retrospect, the only weakness of the game is the weak localization, but even that was a part of the charm unique to this game.

I'd give it an 8 and that's because I've played crisis core otherwise it probably would have been a 7

I've played nigh on all FFs (okay not completed but still) and after playing FFXIII I can honestly say FFVII is:

It's my favourite, think it has the best story, best character dynamics, playability. After FF12 and 13 I really can sit here and realise what a monster awesome game it was. I remove that 0.1 because of the sequals that ruined the original story but adding crap.

I just want to clarify my giving FFVII an 8 score.
I only gave FFVII an 8 in comparison to the other FF's. It is a great FF, but not the best IMHO. I like FFI, FFVI and FFXII more then FFVII, thus I can't rightly give it above an 8 over when others deserve it more.
If I were to compare it to all other RPG's and give it a dry score without considering the other FF's, it would get a 9.5 without question.
