Do you need to pre-order to get the demo?

If you do then people shouldn't take VGChartz pre-order numbers as definitive proof of 100k+ sales.

Remember M.A.G.?

I was thinking the same thing. First week sales are only a couple days... 90k preorders doesn't eman they'll all pick it up the first day it comes out...or as you pointed out....at all.

I've preordered lots of stuff and never actually picked it up.

I also agree with whoever posted above about a boycott. I have several MH fans who are all boycotting the game, for two reasons.

1) it's on wii and not 360 or ps3 or psp
2) They posted mostly bullshots when first debuting the game. (This upset them a lot. One of the guys just rags on it all the time "looks like a psp game on a console")

Also, I heard the the multiplayer aspect was a significant deterrent for several of them.

That honestly just sounds like people who don't want to buy it and coming up with excuses afterwords.  Those are some of the worse excuses i've ever heard.

it's possible. They all own wiis though, and have logged like 200+ hours into several MH games.

It might be just justification, you're right. I do know one other person who is buying mhtri who hangs out with all those guys, but has never played any MH game before.

That actually makes it worse... not better.

I mean think about it... they are not buying a game... in a series they love more then most... for a console they own....

because it's not on PS3 or 360... and because previews...

Also... they're upset because it has Multiplayer?  How is that a bad thing?  Heck, they even let you store your character in the wiimote so you can do the co-op play just like you would with the PSP.

If I told someone I wasn't going to buy a Tactics Ogre game because it was on the 360, it looked like Ogre Battle 64 and because it had an optional online multiplayer mode... i'd want them to smack me in the head.

They literally don't want to buy it because it's not on the wrong system they own, the graphics are only as good (though really they are better) and because it has extra modes... I mean, that's just silly.  Could you imagine not buying a game... from a series you love, because of those reasons?

I'm sorry to say this, but your friends are complete idiots.

1) Who cares on which platform it is, MH3 is extremely well done.
2) Bullshots? I know nothing of this, but the game is probably the best looking Wii game, and it looks miles beyond any PSP game ever released.
3) So a huge multiplayer component which tons of features is a bad thing? It blows most Xbox Live multiplayer features out of the water. It has dedicated servers, voice chat, keyboard support, an entire online city hub complete with npc's, a seperate friend system with your own inboxes, status indicators, etc. It's extremely well done, almost comparable with the best PC games.

115k in america
120k in others never thought i would say that =)

These friends of yours are probably not buying any Wii games, period. And then they go on to post that their Wii is gathering dust, implying there is nothing to buy, while it is just their fanatic console fanboyism that is the reason they don't buy the game.

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

I don't know guys, that's just what they've been telling me.

I don't know much about the game myself. I'm actually interested in it.

@chrizum, yeah most of the games first media releases were doctored, as are most high profile games.

@bmmb1 most of them own SSBB..other games include LKS, Muramasa, NMH, MKWii... I'm not really sure what else... but they tend to like the niche stuff and japanese stuff.

They most certainly did not.  If you could do yourself a favor and either distance yourself from the ignorant or correct them.

I have access to Capcom's media site and none of their shots were altered.  In fact, the game turned out better looking than most originally published screen shots showed.

North America:

First week - 100k min.

Lifetime - 500k min.

Or it could be that MHTri has less content than MHFU. From what I can tell MHFU is BIGGER. There more weapons, weapon upgrades. Also the world I heard was smaller. It could be that they are not happy that it's a smaller game. It's silly though. I hear the online is better.

NM: They are just unhappy it's on a Nintendo console. Even owners of a console can be unhappy if a game changes machines. They were probably psyked when it was a PS3 game.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

1.) Then they are not gamers, just whiners, since it's a really good game, and feel free to direct them to my sig and check out some game play just to show them how retarded they are for missing it.

2.) I have never seen a PSP game looking that good personally, and I have 2 PSPs' right now, they need to get their fucking eyes checked.

From what I hear, this is basically a Monster Hunter 1 PS2 reboot, and the people I've played with who are MH Vets say that the MH1 monsters in Tri are 10 times harder and I'm having a blast, so people need to get over it. To think that this game is not even 3GB in size is just saying that if the game does well, expect much more with the next iteration on Wii.

Of course online is better since FU didn't have it in America, MH3 is the first game since MH1 on PS2 to have online.

Another thing is that MHFU is more or less MHF2 with more stuff, most of the added content consist of alternate color monsters that are stronger than the ones from MHF2.

Basically MH3 is like the first of any main MH game, then they release the G versions, that add more content, its kinda like getting Pokemon Diamond, then buying Platinum, and then getting Silver.  They're similar, when a new generation is introduced (Diamond/Pearl or MH3 in this case) you might lack some content but you got a lot more and better features, then you get your update versions later down the pipeline with a shit ton of added content and all of the new generations features.
