i believe that will be their move too the key to winning is the entrance price point

@Siphilis: You know, it's for the market to decide how long life will a console have, not the manufacturer. Just at last gen, because of the PS2 dominance and earlier launch, GC and Xbox were DOA.

Of course Sony will continue selling the PS3 if it can profit by selling it and there are enough customers buying it.
But as soon as Sony puts out PS4, they focus their effort on the new system to sell it, so PS3 is dead by then.

I didn't quite get what you meant with the GC-PS2 comparison. Was it that you think all next gen systems are specswise close to each other?

i think that you have a similar situation that due to the probably later release of both the xbox and ps4  that there will be big differences between them and the next wii. but the difference wont be that big like right now

The fact is, people are so ingrained in their "graphics whore" mindset that they forget that the Wii is outselling both the PS3 and 360, for a reason - not because the Graphics are a generation behind.



If anyone wants a PS3 from Nintendo next-gen, I suggest you buy a PS3 now. If the Wii didn't even have a DVD player in it, I highly doubt Nintendo's next will match even everything the PS3 offers today.

Nintendo needs to make profit on every console they sell...you can bet it will be an HD console, but it needs to make Nintendo money. Unlike Sony and Microsoft, Nintendo cannot afford to take a hit on every single console they sell.

When the PS3 laucnhed, they had so much tech packed in there that they STILL lost money @ the $600 price range.  STILL.

Nintendo cannot afford that, because video games are their primary revenue stream and a successful business is all about maximizing revenue.

Well they should make it have blue ray AND lose lots of money though take out all the nongaming things. I'll never use those

of course its not all about graphics i myself owned a wii about a year ago but i got bored because nothing intresting released for a very long time, they released all the good games right at the beginning(Mario galaxy, zelda smash brothers and mario kart). I never liked the 3rd party support from nintendo except in the SNES era but you cant compare them with today. so i sold the wii, now that they are releasing the next mario and zelda, i will maybe rent the console for a week.

What im trying to say is that now that im used to the hd graphic i really dont wanna miss it anymore its like watching something in tv that is not hd, it really hurts. so for me Graphics are really important.

I also believe that both ps move and Natal wont make a big difference for the hd consoles, because people who like them got the wii and wont  buy them for the hd consoles.

Yeah sure wii is outselling the competition and that will last for some time but i think that people will more likely buy the console console that has the best lineup and i believe that this is the big weakness of the wii and that will be remembered .

That's what people thought in the 8 bit generation How computers were thought to have better software.
Now who has the better software and 3rd party support? Well by memory its NES

Software is opnional though only nintendo were the only ones making hit games on the nes that weren't small

@Siphilis: Well, i don't think Nintendo needs to rush its console release, unless competition is going to launch its consoles soon. So i don't think the possible difference in specs is because of release dates.

You're right that people buy the console with best lineup of games, which is why they are buying Wiis. The lineup may not be best for you, but for a lots of people, like me, it has the only noteworthy lineup of games.

the Nes or SNES had a good lineup, first and third party. The Wii just has a good first party lineup is what i meant with the exception of a few maybe.

if you mean that third party support is more irrelevant then i disagree thats the big advantage of the hd consoles.

Exactly. I already have a DVD player, so why pay for a new one? I basically only use my console to play games.
