Forums - Sony Discussion - What did the PS3 do that the Wii and/or XBox 360 copied?

I am seeing the Wii getting a controller add on for the Wiimote that looks like the 360.  Outside of that, what else?  Can someone fill me in here?

don't know about you but it actually looks more like the dualshock than the 360's controller.

other than that, i can add some stuff that i rather call inspiration than a "Rip off!" to this thread but i choose not to because there are some people who will take it deeply and personally.

PS3 was the first HDMI-ready console. After it's launch, the 360 added the function.

they are not copying the "slim model", all companys do it to reduce costs, sony did not invent manufacturing cost saving

Correlation does not imply causation. The reason the classic controller looks like the dual shock is because they are both SNES pads with analogue sticks added on in the only place you could add them

Edit - stupid typo *brews more coffee*

I know PS3 has got something they can't copy,though.

MAG,for example.

Bluray, maybe some other time, but NO MAG for sure.

HD 3D games, maybe 360 will copy that......by taking a risk that RROD rate may get even higher(1-3% at the beginning, after 2-3 year it will get very high, then with HD 3D games maybe even higher.)

Whoa, that new Wii controller is pretty crazy. Fact is, ever since the Dual Shock was released, every controller has been inspired by it. I say inspired, because really that's what it is. It's what all companies do with tech, which is why/how tech advances. The sad thing is that you get these die-hard fans who wish to give credit to one company, usually Nintendo, for everything innovative in gaming and everyone else are just copy cats. This mostly stems from the problem of them having limited info on the history of gaming and not wishing to look into the subject further. It's just easier to credit one company.

All 3 have innovated something new which other companies copied time and time again.

I think that since Nintendo is older, they have probably introduced more things which were subsequently taken as inspiration by other console manufacturers. analog sticks and rumble come to mind.

I think they is coping.  MS seen how the sales for the PS3 went up after the slim and the price cut.  MS already have a $200 arcade 360.  I don't think it cost much to make a 360.
