Endurance: NPD Proves PS2 Has It

The latest NPD numbers are out and while God of War III stole the show selling 32 percent more that its predecessor, there’s something else going on that no one seems to take notice of.

We’re in the seventh generation of gaming consoles, and while Xbox 360, Wii and PS3 are leading the console sales category, PlayStation 2, after ten long years, is till riding high selling almost the same amount as PSP units sold in the month of March. This after PS3 has received most of the big hits that made its older brother great.

118.3K PS2s were sold in said month, that’s afte the console has sold well past 140 million units worldwide making it the best selling ever.

PS2 was released in 1999 in Japan and 2000 around the world and is still standing strong. The thing has endurance and Sony has said as long as consoles keep on selling, they’ll continue to support it and developers will too.

So you can safely buy a PS2 my friend, that is if you don’t have one already.

It's amazing how the PS2 can still sell close to what PSP sells.

the PS2 rules the world, that's all.

Ps2 is the undisputed king of consoles. As much as I may love other systems like snes, 64, ps3 etc. there is no competing with the ps2's variety and quality of games.

the reason is simple really, when you buy this system, you won't need anything else, its just simple as that.

Maybe it will break 150 million before retiring...that would be quite something.

yeah it would be at least a few years until the Wii outsells it....
So i think it will keep selling until that happens.
