Forums - Sales Discussion - Install base in Australia and New Zealand, per GfK

New Zealand is the only country smart enough to buy more PSPs than DS handhelds!

Tease.

It is refreshing to see a place where nintendo doesn't dominate.

yeah. the rest of the world needs to wake up.

Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

I vaguely remember an article stating that GfK did not include the _first_ round of giveaways, but did with all subsequent ones. Always a problem whether to count freebies or not - here in Switzerland we currently have another one of those "Buy our 2 year cell phone contract and get a free cell phone and a 60G XBox360 for $1" specials. (Not he first one, actually).

New Zealand is the greatest city in Austraila.

Hey NZ is awesome! lol.

Nintendo never had a big following...EVER in NZ. Yes mario is known. PS2 was massive last gen (4 million population - 500k+ ps2 sold). Plus nintendo advertising is non-existent here, while ps3 and 360 and psp ads are seen everywhere.

and Rol - we dont stand a chance anyway in the worldcup. we were lucky to make it in lol.

feel free to add me whenever (just PM me to let me know)

Nintendo always had a very poor distributor for New Zealand and in 2008 the company, Softprint Interactive, went bankrupt. Nintendo Australia eventually picked up distribution duties but it's still very pathetic there.

Those are difficult to track, don't usually make a huge difference in the number and the promotion generally don't have a recorded finite number that's availible to the puiblic.

The bravia promotions do make a huge difference though, they add 30,000 PS3 to the australian market each time (20k? 40k? I forgot) and they're trackable because the number is finite and made availible to the public.
