God of War seems to of been too much for my PS3, while I was kicking ass with Kratos it just turned it's self off and refuses to turn back on again (it starts up for a couple of seconds, beeps and turns off - YLOD). It was the old skool 60GB model, and had been working fine up until now. Damn you Kratos!!

I managed to fix my YLOD on my PS3 using Gilksy's meathod (http://www.psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62509), who sounds an awfull lot like Mr Orange from Resevoir Dogs!

Anyway, I fixed my PS3 and bought a new 250GB Slim, and used the data transfer option in the system settings folder.  It took a while (about 4 hrs to transfer 40GB), but it transfered ALL my files (including locked saves and DLC).  And all I had to do after that was log on with my new PS3 and get my trophy info from the PSN server.

Thanks to everyone on VGChartz for their help with the death and resurection of my PS3!!!

  Your PS3 is old. Kratos didnt break your PS3. You might have alot of dust bunnys in it. I have a Fat PS3 for about a year and a half and it runs fine played GOW3 about 3 time now and the PS3 never skips a beat. Just contact sony and pay the $150 repair bill. Or buy a slim PS3.

lol it was not GOW III, lots of 60GB PS3 have fallen on here due to YLOD, it happens due to overheating, the solder dries out, sorry you may have to get sony to fix it or better do the thermal paste fix, then sell it and use the money to get a ps3 slim

It's time to buy a slim PS3.

Wow, Kratos is even more of a badass than I originally thought.  He now kills PS3s!  Most characters only have power to kill people in their gaming world.

My friend has a old launch PS3 and he got a YLOD last year 60gb model he had to pay over 150 bucks to get it fixed.

Haha, I'm not really blaming GOW for breaking my PS3, I was just being humorous.  I would contact Sony, but I can't seem to find a UK phone number anywhere.

If I have to pay over £50 then I will just buy a new one instead, BUT I'd really like to get my old game-saves first, can I hook it up to my PC somehow?
