Forums - Microsoft Discussion - U.S. government asks Steve Ballmer to create budget-balancing game

It would be pretty ironic if this job was assigned to Microsofts game devision whcih is still billions in the red from the Xbox overall.

This game in limited form actually already exists. It's a flash game called "Budget Hero" http://marketplace.publicradio.org/features/budget_hero/

They're still interested in balancing the budget? I thought they had given up on that when they signed the stimulus package. Oh, and then there was the healthcare bill.

This budget won't be balanced any time soon.

They should ask EA to make a simulation game akin to SimCity that is for nation with a big portion surrounding budgetary concerns.

That would be fun.

The Super Power games were like this. Real fun stuff. the only issue is the economics are messed up with every country being able to develop every resource to where every country EVENTUALLY becomes self sufficent. I always had a lot of fun in that game playing Dubai or Oman. You make policy issues that change your country hugely, mess with the budget and economy, and diplomatic relations with other countries. Ironically the first time i played it the Israel Lebanon war broke out... right when the israel Lebanon war happened. The game was really good with that... has the usual UN laws too so you can't just annex territory without consequences etc. I'd have it installed now but it has a bad DRM. Starforce.

It's probably just to say.... "See you can't do it!  How can we!"
