Forums - Sales Discussion - Prediction League News and Stuff

Hello everyone.

I thought I'd let everyone know - ioi has made me a mod, and an administrator of the Prediction League.

If you didn't know, I, along with a few others are huuuuuuuge fans of the Prediction League that started up in Febuary. Myself, along with others, started a pre-coded version back in December and November, and ioi made it official in January. Since then, it's gone from 10 unofficial predicters for the December NPD to just about 100 in March.

Anyways, as admin, I'm not going to change a whole whole bunch. The prediction league is fun for the reasons of bragging rights (I dont see any fanboy posters consistently reach top positions), and lots of other reasons. Box Office Mojo has a huge league for movies, which was alot of fun when I played it every week back a few years ago.

Anyways, I want to hear everyones ideas on what we can do to encourage more people to join the leagues. Here a few ideas I had posted, and mentioned before:

1. We'll update alot quicker for the Japaneese Weekly Results, I'll try my best to finalize totals on Friday of the week's results. This will be the same for NPD results as well.

2. I wanted to introduce a few more games: Monthly J-predictions, Quarterly American Predictions, and Yearly Japaneese and American predictions. Also, I am thinking a "worldwide unit sales" would be cool too - DS, 360, PS3, Wii and PSP so we can all really see whos the best when it comes to numbers of those sorts.

Those were the main ideas I had. Friday we'll have the next J-predicts ready, and I'll get the stuff ready for the following week. One thing I'm gonna try to get rid of: Brain Training, Pokemon and NSMB #s week after week. I want to try to make the predictions the top 10 games for the week/month and try to flush out stragglers, and give alot of "new blood" as much as possible. Obviously we'd include old games that were going to contend for top-10 spots week after week like Wii Sports and Wii Play.

So give me some ideas. This is YOUR game.

Also, for note, and I hope no one is mad, but I will continue to play the game, as I enjoy it. However, feel free to let me know if I go off track on the ideas for any games for the month/week/yearly post ideas.

If everything works out, once April NPD is posted up (which I am VERY excited about), we'll do the quarterly and yearly NA as well as yearly J-predicts too.

Thanks!

Around the Network

In honour of you're promotion to Mod and Prediction league monitor, I've decided to join in on the fun. I look forward to many rounds of misinformed predictions and poor judgement.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Include Ps2 in the yearly/seasonal/monthly stuff. It is still selling fairly well.  I want to see if anyone can predict when it will die.

The only issue with putting the PS2 is this:

The coding for the system is 10 software titles and 5 Hardware systems, or vice versa (or mix n match). Therefore, to add the PS2 we'd have to ax a software title, or the PSP (or the lowest selling h/w system).

IMO, I'd LOVE to do PS2 predicts for the US and Japan...We did do it in November and December, but ioi coded it to exclude the PS2, which was a good thing, as after this year it will largely irrelevant.

So we can do one of 2 things:

Ax the PSP, or add it to the S/W section which is easily do-able. I think we could do it maybe for the quarterly US predictions.

Ok I would love if we could somehow do an average in addition to the totals for the top predicters because I missed a couple of weeks so I'll never get into the top 20 total.   I relize that first week people would skew it so maybe we could somehow come up with an average thats weighted a little with the more predictions you make?  I dunno.   That or refresh the top standings quicker.
