God of War III is single player only. That's why it's not selling like crazy.

When I said it wasn't going to be THAT huge, no one listened to me. Hype train was really fast, so it is natural that the crash is big.

Above: still the best game of the year.

UPDATE: It also could be the fact that the reason for the high PS3 sales, it could be people slowly replacing their original PS3 for the new Slim throughout the world? Perhaps...but nobody can be for sure.

LOL!why would some one replace there ps3 for the new ps3 slim first off it came out last year in september that was how many moths ago...8?

Yea why would someone spend $300 on getting another ps3,a bunch of people that got a 360 to make waiting for the price cut for a ps3 easier are now getting a ps3,alot of other people too...have a look at my sig

Maybe some people didn't recognize enough the greatness of the third compared to all his predecessors.

Maybe a set of conditions, the TOO-CLOSE release of 3 big titles - FFXIII, BBC2 and GoW3

I don't know... Some might think the game will get off all minds fastly...

God of War 3 has just fine sales and is an incredible game, I do find it interesting though that Sony has been unable to put up really true blockbuster like numbers this gen. I mean they have some games with great sales but no true megatons.

Yeah. They failed on that.

Activision put the highest selling game on PS3... Which is Modern Warfare 2.

I hate these types of threads.

GOW3 sales are great. Why worry about the sales?

The previous iterations came in at about 2.5% of their consoles' respective playerbases, including the 1+2 collection that came out on the PS3. GoW3 is doing about twice that, and it's still pulling top-5 sales, which is frankly phenomenal. It won't break 3 million, but it's managed to make a much deeper impact on its console's fanbase than any of the previous games in the series, and that's an accomplishment in and of itself.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

Sony has never had games do blockbuster numbers this quickly, and they've never need that anyway. This gen is no different. They've only ever had Gran Turismo do big numbers, and those took time.

God of War III is sitting at 1.8mill after 1 month. The game is fine.

I hope your this isn't directed at me since I flat out stated that God of War 3 has good sales?  I realize that Sony usually doesn't have the Halo / Gears size franchises I was just saying that I find that somewhat interesting that they haven't been able to nail down a truly megaton sized game outside of the GT series.
