So far I am extremely disappointed in this game. I know, I'm probably one of the few, but I just have so many problems with it...and...I'm bored with it! I played the first GoW a month ago, and was completely shocked by how much I enjoyed it (thought I hated hack-n-slash games), especially for a ps2 game with out-of-date visuals. I had to skip GoW 2 bc I have absolutely no time (going to grad school, etc.). But, I thought GoW 3 was THE GAME I had to play. I'm a little over 1/2 way through GoW3 now (about to begin "The Pit of Tartarus" chapter), and have not enjoyed it much at all so far. So...for those who have played it, knowing I haven't enjoyed it much so far, is there a reason I should continue playing till the end? I NEVER start a game without finishing, but I really don't have time to play, so unless you guys tell me the combat, story, and action improve significantly after the point I'm at, then I'm gonna take it back.
Btw, my problems with GoW3, just so you know:
Combat: This was the major problem to me. The combat, to me, was extremely redundant. They could have done so much more with Kratos' combat, attacks, and combos-so plain and unimaginative imo. Combat is very similar to that of GoW1 yet missing most of the good stuff! Also, the specials are so poor! In GoW1 I loved Poseidon's Rage and Hade's Army (or whatever it was called), and still used the other 2 as well. All were good. But the specials in GoW3 blow imo, so weak and boring. I was especially surprised at how little the combat had been expanded upon and innovated since GoW1.
Puzzles: The first GoW had puzzles that were pretty hard sometimes imo, and had a lot of them. This was something I really enjoyed about GoWI, but GoW 3 didn't have these, or at least not as many and not ones of any sort of difficulty (again, at least not so far that I've encountered).
Violence: This is more of just an annoyance to me, and not my primary reason for disliking GoW 3. Anyways, I don't usually like games that are extremely or EXCESSIVELY violent, but I actually loved the violence in GoWI bc the violence was all against animals and mythical creatures and such, not humans. Only one part really got to me in GoWI, and that's where you have to incinerate the innocent dude in the cage. But the rest of GoWI wasn't usually like that. Sometimes there would be humans running around in front of you that you could kill if u wanted, but it gave you a choice. In GoW3, imo a lot of the violence is in bad taste. The creators actually FORCE you to kill ppl on several accounts (and I'm only halfway through). And there isn't even justice or reason to it. Several times it was bc these ppl were somewhat in your way. But I found it ridiculous, bc there was always plenty of room to get around the ppl, but the creators restrict you from going around with an "invisible barrier" just so you have to kill them. That's stupid imo. I'd like to have a choice. I guess I should have just stayed away from the GoW series altogether, but GoW 1 didn't have that stuff (well only once as stated).
Anyways, this is all just my opinion. Not trying to upset ppl, hope I don't. Just want to know if there's a reason I should continue playing and also would like to know other ppl's opinions.
