This Generation blows because I have to read crap like these.

Here I was trying to make a decent conversation!

I am sorry CGI but nothing is more anoying than those who live in the past and always act like it was better back then when it was not.

let's go over one of the reason this Gen blows: Failure rate

How have we forgotten how crappy the PS2, PS1 was? My PS2 could never play any GOW games. I bought the Xbox just because I couldnt take it anymore. I remember my cousin warning me not to touch the slim ps2.

As far as FPS, they are popular because it's one genre that keeps innovating in gameplay unlike popular genres that are slowly dying because it's basicly the same thing, any whenever someone tries something new, it becomes too linear.

None of those are good reasons.

It just sounds like another opinionated internet fanboy. If you're reading the posts before reading the article itself, I recommend not wasting your time.

The only one I'd even give some attention to is "Oversaturation of FPS". Other than that, the rest of those are just hit-seekers.

Every generation has a genre that explodes with popularity, and each genre still has plenty to offer this gen. It's not a big deal.

Yeah? Well, I must say FPS exploded this generation and oversaturated our consoles. Name the other genres for the other generations?

In the 3rd generation, there was an explosion of platformers. Developers would shamelessly copy other games and release branded platformers that sold millions. In the 4th generation, JRPGs exploded (and were biggest in the 5th generation). The 6th generation saw the rise of racers and action games. I could go on and on, but frankly, this article just seems like more biased crap.

This has been the best gen for me if we count Nintendo DS.

The FPS reason is correct, but last gen it was the sandbox game that suddenly became massively popular, BUT Grand Theft Auto raised the bar & quality with each title after the last with GTA:SA being the pinnacle.

GTA4's delays let COD4 become THE hardcore game of the gen and then GTA4's disappointing reception among fans just let the FPs genre become the largest this gen (on the HD systems).

The only problem is I don't think COD raised the bar with MW2 like GTA: Vice City did over GTA3. Thats why you see more hate on FPS games than you did on say GTA last gen.

The bad things about this gen, major disappointments for me have really just been 2, the PSP & GTA4. Everything else has been great, apart from a lack of JRPG's on PS3.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

This gen is missing a certain amount of charm that was found last gen.

I totally agree about this, too many people have nostalgia goggles on!

The other thing is, just like PS2, the Wii which is the fastest selling console ever barely have any FPS and the highest selling games this Generation. Ignoring these facts just make this article just silly.

Sometimes I don’t think I live in the same world as most gamers do, all I see is complaining about how the market ONLY has colorless and generic FPS and nothing else. Are you looking in the right places?
This generation we had a lot of good games already released that are not in the fps genre, and there are just too much of them to count, but I'll name a few: Tales of Vesperia, Mass Effect 1 and 2, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Lost Odyssey, Last Rebellion, Valkyria Chronicles, Demon's Souls, Ninja gaiden 1(sigma) and 2, Uncharted 1 and 2, Folklore, Little Big Planet, Braid, Siren Blood Curse, Heavy Rain, Infamous, Forza 3, Midnight Club LA, Burnout Paradise, God of War, Civilization revolution, Armored Core: For Answer, Katamari Forever, BlazBlue, Ratchet & Clank games, ...
Seriously guys, buy more diverse games, they are out there, all you have to do is look for them.

I had to say 32-bit era because it had all the good games in almost every genre you needed. Plus, I am too young to really know the 16-bit era as much, but I am aware of many of its classics.

As to what I said before with the genres, let me show ya what I mean:
Stealth: MGS1, Syphon Filter, Mission Impossible (N64)
Action/Adventure: Zelda: OOT, Tomb Raider, Banjo & Kazooie, Driver 2
Fighting: Tekken, Virtua Fighter, Smash Bros., Mortal Kombat Trilogy, Soul Calibur 1
FPS/Shooter: Goldeneye, Medal of Honor, Perfect Dark, Project S.W.A.R.M.
Racing:Gran Turismo, Automobili Lamborghini, Diddy Kong Racing
Flight: Pilotwings, StarFox 64
Wrestling: WCW/nWo Revenge, WWF No Mercy, WWF Smackdown 2
Platformer: Super Mario 64, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Klonoa, Bomberman, Crash Bandicoot
JRPG: Final Fantasy 7-9, Legend of Dragoon, pretty much Squaresoft's infallibility years

and a whole bunch of other quirky titles in between that were great. And the thing is, they were great all around. Now, way too much focus was put on graphics, rather than music, non-repetitive gameplay, originality, and overall title length. Too many games are trying to me "Mr. Me Too" rather than just Me.

No i have too say it's my favorite so far.
