Forums - Sony Discussion - Could GT5 the lowest selling GT game?

I say 6milion life time. Somehow it will fail as a GT game. I don't know why but i have this bad feeling.

Without bundling I could see it selling less than 10m, yes.
It could statistically tie with GT2 though.

LOL the userbse agrgument.

MGS4>MGS3 on 1/4 of userbase of ps2 where MGS3 was released on.

It's Sony's biggest franchise, I don't think they're gonna let it slip through with decent sales. I'm expecting ads everywhere and ps3 bundles.

1 more delay though, and it will be bad for the fans as they will be expecting more form the game.

I think that GT5 could do better than GT3 because of the better support from Europe (not that it wasn't before) and higher support from America due to the inclusion of NASCAR and a lack of a better PS3 racing game. It would also sell better in Japan because of SuperGT being licensed and again lack of a good racing game on any platform in Japan.

And looking at the preorder number for America, it seems the support has increased and there is still no release date. With proper marketing, which I think Sony will do for sure, this game could be better in america than GT4.

So GT5 could possibly do better than any other GT game in its lifetime.

We're not tools of the government, or anyone else. Fighting was the only thing... the only thing I was good at. But... at least I always fought for what I believed in.

GT5 will sell less than 5m copies in its lifetime and in response Michael Pachter will quit his job.

You can quote me on that.

I am hugely comflicted with this...

On one hand I want GT5 to do well, on the other the prospect of Michel Pacther quiting his job... *shivers*

I think its almost guaranteed to sell less than previous installments but not due to the quality of the game or userbase. I suspect given the huge amount of development time this game as been in, there will be a GT6 released within 2 years to really profit off the time they spent on the engine this generation. In fairness I hope I'm wrong though and the game is so stellar it becomes a killer app and sells 10 million within its first year. I'd rather that scenario as a gamer anyway.

It's not going to be lowest selling GT by any means. It's going to sell a lot, Halo 3 numbers, imo.
But, it's gong to be, in my opinion again, the least profitable GT.

And also least profitable "main game"of the big 3 (mario and halo will profit much more this gen).

It could be, also GT3 numbers are highly inflated due to massive bundling. GT5 still should easily sell over 6 million copies and with the help of bundles it could sell over 8 million copies.
