Forums - Sales Discussion - DS sales price

Now that the PSP has lowered its price do you think that Nintendo will follow suite and lower the price of the DS? The last price cut on the DS came in August of 2005 when it dropped from 150 to 130.

I asked this question in this thread about the PSP price drop:

Numbers are like people. Torture them enough and you can get them to say anything you want.

In a word,nah.

Why would they? To sell non-existant stock? They can barely keep the store shelves stocked right now, so they have 0 reasons to lower the price.

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

Exactly. They could raise the price and still sell every unit. (My girlfriend and I are going crazy trying to find one in stock!)

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

If you're don't mind paying more, there's plenty on e-bay and Amazon Marketplace

I'm going to try not too. I'm actually sort of getting into the hunt. The calls, the store stops, the anticipation. Exciting times.  And it's made all the harder since I'm trying to find a Coral Pink one.
