Forums - Gaming Discussion - Apple's Deathnail for handheld market

I don't know if anybody else has realized this but, Adobe's new software package Creative Suite 5 or "CS5" for short is coming out in 2 days!

This software package comes with programs I'm sure many of you are familar with such as Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, and Flash.

The most interesting is the new version of Flash. In the new Flash CS5 you will be able to build applications for iPhone and iPad! as detailed here.

To me this means that thousands of Indie Developers who make flash games for websites such as Kongregate, Armour Games, and Newgrounds will be able to port their old games to the iPhone and create new ones easily instead of fincking with Apple's developer kit. I'm convinced there will be a flood deluge of games coming to the iPhone the following months after this is released.

Please post your thoughts below.

Yes but the big games will still be on 3DS or PSP2

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Yep. As you suggest the best dev using this will be something like Beamoth, and compared to the big titles like Metal Gear, Monster Hunter, Mario or Pokemon. None of the games compare.

Indy development is good, and all, but it's very rare they produce a genuinely good game, and even when they do they are usually relatively short / lacking depth.

According to Apple this will never happen.
