Forums - Gaming Discussion - SSF4 best streetfighter ever?

I have done my reaserch watched my xplay and g4 and SSF4 is being hailed as the best street fighter ever and from everything i have looked at and watched i might have to agree as an average SF4 fan that game is in my opion is the best and now improvements on it will make it the best

What do you think? Best street fighter ever? i mean i know its not out but do you think it will

I hope so. Two things I hope for: The option to turn off "ultra moves" and the option to change the "throw" commands. Aside from that, I had no gripes about SF4. I plan to fall in love with SSF4!*

*as long as I don't have to pay $4 for a few alternate costumes.

Its all down to preference...

I think Street Fighter 3 Third strike rapes SF4 any day.
Other people say part 2 is still the best...

Dudley is in and thats huge for me! and third strike was great i like how much quicker it was and teching but streetfighter 4 is fun even to play with noobs and learners

It is definitely the most recent Street Fighter ever.

I don't believe there's such a thing as "BEST fighting game" Below are strengths of previous big Street Fighter games and what made them each original.

SF4's greatest strength I feel lies in it's simplicity. To me the best SF4 player will be a player that excels in mind games, control, and a diverse bag of attacking tricks.

Third Strike's originality stems from parry, and it's slow pace. A lot of silly and fun mind games resulted from SF3rd Strike. It's the only game I know of that almost every character will do empty jumps hoping to parry their opponent's anti-air and punish with a devastating combo.

SF2 is the most simple and basic of the Street Fighters, small changes in timing and moves will affect the match, I love it because the strategy is so simple and bare bones. I feel like SF2 is the Street Fighter that really taught me how to play a fighting game without mashing, how to stop this strategy with this etc.

MvC2 is the technical fighters dream, hundred hit combos, reversals, etc. A player that excels in technique, speed, defense, and timing will find a good home here.

You can see the fighting games are all so different to say one is better than the other is really impossible, like comparing apples to oranges. If you look at pro fighting game players you'll see each persons style gives them advantages depending on the game.

still doesn't change that every street fighter's game dynamics are so different it's impossible to say which one is best. A player that's good at turtling up would rather play SF4,SF3rd Strike, or K groove in CvS2 a player who's powerful because of their offense will enjoy MvC2.

Well, yes. It's just like Street Fighter II with more of everything.

This game is going to be great. I already spent 50+ hours on IV. Hope for a few more on this - gonna master that Hakam and Guy!
