Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why does Epic keep Gears of War a Xbox 360 exclusive?

lol to people who think that Gears of War games will be ever released on other consoles.
IP is owned by Epic but MS is a publisher of Gears of War series keeping part of the rights to this IP just like it is with Mass Effect.

For the lulz.

Because MS loves crushing hopes.

Microsoft publishes the games, that is why.

Because it sells well on 360 alrdy and its fanbase is on the 360?

That's a good reason for it to be released on the 360, not a good reason for it to remain exclusive to the 360. Anyway, I think it would be best if Gears remained exclusive and most future Epic titles can be multiplat. Exclusives help shape a console's identity.

Marketing and a rich online component is a strong part of it, the game will be treated with deference and like most blockbusters, has local multiplayer on one system, which seems to have been forgotton on other consoles.

Epic codes their engine to the metal on the system everyone makes games for.
Epic sells their engine to almost everyone who makes games.

Result for Epic - Everyone who buys their engine gets a great engine,  plus Epic has a blockbuster game bigger then anything they had before (Jazz & Unreal Tournament)
Result for MS - They get a system seller and an middleware engine that performs better on their system then the next closest competitors for the generation.

Basically because it is partly owned by MS by being the publisher. MS gave them the money to make the game. In this instance Gears of War and it's sequel probably cost tens of millions to make. Without that money there would be no game. MS have always had good relationships with other devs but it has always revolved around money. It is just the way the world is. If someone has money and will pay you to do what you like doing then your always going to think nice of them. If you don't give them money or help them then your not going to get very far. I think Sony in it;s early couple of years was a fine example of this.

Well since Gears has sold more than any exclusive on the PS3 why would they switch? Not to mention the install base of 360 is twice of the PS3 in the Americas where Gears sells best. If you want to play gears so badly go buy yourself a 360. Its not coming to PS3, not even PC.

show me the money

You wanna have your opinion, then you have to respect different opinions as well.

What he said I think you can also put Halo and PGR in the same category.
