Android is much more scaleable than the iphone platform. But how about we make a friendly bet - in two years, after Iphone goes to Verizon(probably in about 6 months) lets see where android is compared to iphone. I have both an iphone(3GS) and an android phone(nexus one) as well as a BB (bold 9700). ask me which one dies on me more, also ask me which one I carry around more. |
lol, i would not take that bet..
there are over 36 android based smartphone's already. Now China is adopting the Android based OS for their smartphone's, to top it off more than 18+ android based smartphone will be released in 2010, than if that is not enough there are non smartphone devices with Android OS on them like Lava's HD TV with the Android OS as it's core OS.
Swedish manufacturer launches world's first Android TV
IF i was a betting man Google is to portable OS's for mobile devices as Microsoft is known for windows is for Desktop PC's.
hell even Sony is with Google along with Intel.
check it out.
Google and Intel have teamed with Sony to develop a platform called Google TV to bring the Web into the living room through a new generation of televisions and set-top boxes.
Based on Google’s Android operating system, the TV technology runs on Intel’s Atom chips.
Google has built a prototype set-top box, but the technology may be incorporated directly into TVs or other devices.
The Google TV software will present users with a new interface for TVs that lets them perform Internet functions like search while also pulling down Web programming like YouTube videos or TV shows from Hulu.com. The technology will also allow downloadable Web applications, like games and social networks, to run on the devices.

google's own Android OS is also on Sony Xperia brand Cellphone so it's even getting support there beside's The android OS for embedded devices is free after all!

The company that did the polling, comscore, seems to have either considered them not relevant or just ignored them
Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Well if it was water you were drinking, you'd at least be well-hydrated.
Bah!
Symbian is huge in Asia and Europe, and dismal in America, mainly because U.S. operator preferred domestic manufacturers like Motorola (remember RAZR which was mediocre yet very popular) in the past, or RIM and Apple nowadays. As market research firms tend to look into american market only, these boards see only a part of the picture. On global market, however, it's Samsung and Nokia who roll the ball.

The problem for Nokia is their profit have fallen into a deep dive. Their sales have been dropping like a rock too.
While Nokia still may be big internationally, you have to remember that Apple and Google are both new to the market. It will take some time for them to spread to international markets.
As for Samsung, they making Android smartphones.
Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

Huh? I saw nothing indicating "Nokia sales dropping like a rock lately". Do you care to provide a proof link? Their sales last quarter increased, and once could argue only that the increase was smaller than for the rest of the market, and that's what I could agree with. As for Samsung, they're making android phones as well as handsets based on winmo, symbian, and their own platform bada, that's their way of strategy.
So, from my perspetive, you demonstrated lack of knowledge enough to ignore your post :p
