yes, both consoles are currently at 15.19M in sales for the Other region. despite the PS3s significant deficit in that region, over the last several months PS3 has beat 360 in sales in the Other region. PS3 has also beaten 360 in total weekly sales for the last 20 weeks (5 months) straight. It seems Natal and Reach cant come out soon enough for MS.

You mean a price drop can't come out soon enough, right?  Cuz that's what's gonna shift the balance again.  Right now, it's about value, and the PS3 rocks the 360 in that department with having a lot more features for your money.  However, once the Elite models w/HDD installed are cheaper, that shit's gonna get bad for Sony again.  I'm guessing they'll announce it during E3 this year.

A price cut to elite model will not do a big difference because you can already purchase an Xbox at 199$ even 149$ when promotion. Also, Sony will also be able to cut down to 249$, which will probably result in bigger sales increase than a 199$ elite. Even if a pricecut for Xbox would represent more than I think of, they will never be able to compensate the 40K difference it is selling in Japan. Im sure that their only chance to get back on top of Sony is Natal. Price cut will not do it, exclusives will not do it except Natal exclusives which may do it.

On another note, their is probably already more functional PS3 in others. Its a secret to no one that the first batch of Xbox are almost all dead. So if we are to lower PS3 numbers by 1 M we can also remove the same to the Xbox numbers anyway.

If I see another huge adjustment I'm going to be sooooo pissed.

Good job, Sony!

@ JayGee

I think it's going to take more than a price cut to beat the PS3. Most likely a cut, assuming it's a pretty big one and/or Sony doesn't counter with a small cut of their own, will cause the sales to be on par. Only if Sony drops the ball or Natal is a HUGE hit, will 360 start outpacing the PS3 again in Others. And I really don't see either of the last two things happening.

I didnt think Microsoft could market so well,go on youtube and youll see the stimulus package

Are you suggesting they haven't been advertising the 360 in Others?  Cause given the constantly closing gap in those regions, I highly doubt that.  Just because you advertise well, doesn't always mean something will sell well.  As evidenced by the recent sales trend for the 360 in Others and constant trend in Japan.  Hell, MS has been advertising the hell out of FF13 in America, and the PS3 version outnumbers it by over 200K, with no advertising, and that number will probably continue to grow.

As far as the stimulus pack goes, out of the 10.3 mil people who bought the game there's going to be people stupid enough to pay $15 to buy just a few new maps.  I mean over 4 mil still bought a $60 Halo ODST, even though it was promised to be at max a $30 DLC.  When the stimulus pack comes to PS3 it will be the same thing, a couple mil will buy it, while the smart ones will wait for it to drop to like $5.  Really, that pack should have been for free, since Activision made all the money they really needed to of the actual game.

Actually its still just a touch behind

This seems like the dozenth time this has happened on VGChartz. Wake me when it stays there for more than a week or two.

Agreed, it's time for an 'adjustment'!

Trying to convince me the Wii is a real adult game machine 'if you play it right' is like trying to convince me Tofu tastes great 'if you just cook it right'

microsoft could drop the price, but theres no saying that sony doesnt have a price cut in mind for holidays this year either. If microsoft does and sony doesnt, then its clear who the winner will be this christmas. If both do then they will be about neck and neck with natal and move being released, natal will likely have more appeal to begin with due to its uniqueness but may even out over time, of course this is highly dependent on software for both.

lol but the xbox360 was Released A Year and a half beforeee, so the ps3 have sold 15m in Less time, i wonder how will the gap be before natal and the xbox price cut , the last hope for 360 fanboys

Well, it was pretty obvious that the PS3 would overtake the 360 sooner or later in others at the rate it was selling. The only question now is "will Natal change the situation"?

Natal and Reach VS GT5 in Europe

well there was a 360 arcade sale in North America for a few days in march when it went down to $129, and surprisingly PS3 actually beat 360 in sales for North America, which is even now a hard task to accomplish.
