Forums - Sales Discussion - Wii Fit in Japan - Hit or Miss?

LOL, if we judged all titles by the most optimistic fanboy projections, 99% of titles would be failures.

Hehe, true. But many Vgchartz users were quite adament that this was a huge title that would move millions in no time. Infact; some claimed it would outsell a lot of the PS2's top franchises in Japan alone...

What do you think Fishy? I'm guessing lifetime sales of about 10-12 mill WW for this title.

I'm pretty sure 200-250k would not constitute a miss, for it too miss I would say in 150k first week and south after that-

psn- tokila

add me, the more the merrier.

I think the problem with many of the predictions is that they did not take into account Nintendo's release strategy. By all accounts, Nintendo had no intention at all of putting more than a few hundred thousand (300, 000 if our numbers are right) copies of Wii fit out for purchase in case it didn't pull the numbers they wanted. The absolute last thing Nintendo would have needed was to purchase landfill space if Wii fit failed. This way they don't rick as much, although they do limit their sales rate as well.

Good, so they can put all the work into a sequel instead of another re-release soon.

I'm willing to bet hard cash that MHP2G sells way better than MH3.

Not into the series myself..

I agree, mainly because the Monster Hunter series has been far more popular on the PSP than it was on the PS2 which may indicate that people enjoy it more as a portable game ...

No it won't outsell the PS2's franchises just in Japan, but WW oh yeah, but not at once, nope, it'll be a continuous long trending sales, spiking up everytime a new game or series of games which utilize the board are released

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)
