Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is gran turismo is best racing game in racing genre?

Why would cart/arcade games be excluded from the genre because they are not realistic? The only relevant genre they are not a part of is driving simulation.

arcade > simulation all day baby.

Pshhh. Yeah Right. Mario Kart is.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

Yeh what's funny is I agree but Gran Turismo is still better than every other racer.

Mario Kart singleplayer sucks. Online is great and local multiplayer is a blast.

Gran Turismo singleplayer is great, online is great, local multiplayer is great.

As far as the racing part goes, GT is quite a bit better.

Pure entertainment, MKWii prolly kicks the shit out of any GT, simulation wise, since you didn't say consoles only, it's not the best either, graphics, not specifying consoles, so again, no, not really. Will I have GT5 though? Yeah, probably.

GT is the best driving 'simulator' ever...nothing can touch it and that is why it's recognized around the world so much

for just for fun race game, NFS hot pursuit 2 + Burnout is better imo

Can I ask considering this thread is debating this very issue. What makes GT the best simulator?

You may think it's insignificant, but the most important part of making a realistic simulator is how many times you update the physics to your input. GT4 and GT5P have both had much less than FM1,2 and 3. FM2 for example had 360 hertz physics against GT5P 120 hertz physics. Hell even FM1 had 80 hertz. This makes a difference of feeling the roads bumps within 8 metres to not feeling them.

I think your forgetting the fact that GT4 was a PS2 title and GT5P was a demo... just sayin

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

Yeah but Forza 1 was an Xbox 1 game. It scored higher and had better physics than GT4 which came out within 3 months of each other.

GT5P is a very large demo. And thats all PS fans have had all generation. So it's basically the only decent drivng sim on PS3. It's hard to call a demo when it's up in bright lights. Guess we will see if Polyphony times the physics engine by more than X2 over GT5P when it releases.
