Ok guys, I just wanna laugh at you guys.

First off.

Japan is a MUCH bigger market than the UK.

Second.

First 5 weeks in Japan - 249,000
First 2 weeks in the UK - 194,700

If sales keep up at 20,000 for the next 3 weeks... UK will be selling more units than ***JAPAN***.

This is not counting the other 70% of europe.

NDS sold average of  31,875 units a week in UK last year.

If 27,000 is bad. NDS is selling bad as well.

I would expect the PS3 sales to drop to around 20,000/week.

This sounds like ***GREAT*** info to me.

Yeah I don't know why anyone was expecting PS3 to maintain very high sales levels week after week, since it didn't sell out so the initial demand is pretty much gone.  Will be interesting to see where it finally settles after a few more weeks.  But yea 30k last week for the UK is still a good week.

First off the PS3 had a limited supply in Japan and sold roughly 80,000 per week from week 6 through 9 ...

Secondly, I don't know about anyone else but I expected this kind of drop and anticipate that it will drop to a lower level over the next couple of weeks (probably 10k-15k per week); I expect that one of the reasons so many people are making such a big deal about this was that PS3 fans declared that the "PS3 will own Europe" while everyone else said "Wait until next week"

This news matters no more than last week's launch news. There's no direct comparison that can be made to any other launch.

LAUNCH demand was satisfied, now we start the trend of seeing how the console sells over the long run, it's pretty safe to say that the odds are next week's sales being even lower, but by what amount is anyone's guess. And we won't see the "consistency sales" of the PS3 for a few more weeks.

FishyJoe didn't say Launch, he just said Demand was satisfied.

Demand is people who are willling to buy units, not people that want to buy units but can't or won't.

(Supply > Demand) = Inventory available = Demand satisfied

(Demand > Supply) = Inventory unavailable = Demand unmet

Sony can meet the demand right now, but the demand is still there as there are people still willing to pay the cost for it. They can't sell all of them fast at the price they charge, but they will sell them all before summer. Demand is the people who are willing to pay for it, and not all people willing to pay for it have yet. Thats the way business works, Sony is going to charge this much until they think nobody will pay that price and then lower it to increase the demand, but as long as the demand is at a level they are happy with the price will stay the same. Why sony would be happy is anybodies guess.

I aggree with HappySqurriel. The numbers right now don't say anything. Wait at least one month, perhaps two, only then you will be able to see in which direction the PS-3 sells go (probably to a lower level than the Xbox 360 due to the price difference).

And the low german software sells are hardly a surprise. The PS-3 is at the moment the cheapest BluRay player, that you will find in german shops. Most shops normaly sell BluRay for more than 1000 Euro. At the moment there are few things that speak for the PS-3 as a gaming plattform, but the BluRay maket will stay rather limited. The market in germany is very price sensititve and a DVD for 8 Euro, compared to a BluRay for 25-30 Euro is a rather clear picture..Compared to the US the german video market was always weak.
