back on topic I would say the PS3 is the closest to the PS2 for obvious reasons but the 360 is very similar to it also, tbh the xbox and PS2 were very similar at the time so this is no real surprise

No, lol the 360 relies too much on fps and guys with space armours, online was not a big selling feature of the ps2

The Wii is the PS2 of this gen. The weakest hardware. Online not a big selling point. Dominating both the 360 + PS3.
Who's the best Pac, Nas, and Big. Just leave it to that.

Are people forgetting that the ps2 was the king of japan? Not to mention the king of the sales? king of exclusives? Biggest & best library (by a big margin according to metacritic).
360 is hopeless in japan. it's getting trounced by the wii in sales. And whilst its game library isn't shabby, it's a long shot from being near the ps2's library.
One thing that it has got going for it though is that many once ps2 exclusive games are now on the 360 as well as the ps3.
Overall though, you can't really make a convincing argument that the 360 is any more like the ps2 than the wii or ps3 is. Basically, you can make the same argument for any of the current gen consoles by cherry picking and that's all you've done.
I still think PS3 + 360 combo is the closest to the PS2, however, if I had to choose one console that is most like the PS2 it would be the 360 just based on third party AA/AAA exclusives

No console is close to what the PS2 reperesented last gen.
The closest one is probably Nintendo DS.
