Can Modern Warfare 2 hit 10 million on the PS3?

What it has going for it - 7.44 million copies sold, consistent 80k weekly sales for the past weeks. It has not yet had a budget release in any region and stores have not discounted its price. Modern Warfare generally has got legs.

If it keeps the 80k weekly rate it will get there in 32 weeks.

What it has going against it - influx of shooters such as MAG, Bad Company and others, the forthcoming Medal of Honour, another CoD release for Christmas?

So what do you think, will this game be the first to cross the 10 million line this gen for the PS3?

Probably not, when the new CoD gets released sales will really start to slow down. As for the first game that will cross 10 million, it will probably be GT5.

i don't think so. If you compare the sales, COD is at about the same place as halo 3 was in the same timeframe, but halo 3 is very well associated with xbox allowing it to have great legs later on and get to 10mil in a bit less then 2years. This MW will have to deal with an influx of shooters that will greatly reduce its sales. For now it is considered a must buy when u get a ps3, but that won't last that long, especially if the upcoming shooters are very good or get advertised.

GT5 will be the best performing game (sales wise) for PS3. Unless GTA 5 is exclusive (at least timed exclusive).
