Man, was I in for a surprise when I picked up this game a few days ago...
First off, the scale is unbelievable... my eyes practically melted in the first half hour. It was touching killing things of such monumental proportions... kind of like in SoTC which I totally don't think is overrated.
Second, the gameplay is unbelievably smooth. Definitely pleased in that aspect. Far exceeds any other hack and slash game for Q1, especially one that involves a girl with long hair and an absurdly bad taste in music and fashion... Or in short, Darksiders.
I was also pleased that God of War 3 is somewhat difficult for a change. Chaos mode busted my balls. And for once in a god of war game, I wanted to use other weapons! Quite surprising IMO, and it was also interesting to see particular magics tied to each weapon. I got a kick out of using the Claws of Hades' gorgon magic and then beating the hell out of the remaining statues with the cestas. Fun at it's finest!!!
Lastly, I was in for a jizz-inducing delight when I discovered that the puzzles in GOW3 were much more than "Oh, hi there mr. block! I'm going to slowly push you into a corner so you can do something so I can do something so I can finish this game and then go make myself a sandwich." Diversity that was missing from previous GOW games was certainly present in GOW3 IMO.
I'm sorry I dedicated a whole tread to telling you guys about my experience with God of War 3, but I felt I had to put it out there.
PS: Did you guys fight Hercules? OMG!!! The ending... (shivers)
