Alan wake looks better, It's also a totally different type of game, I doubt that you will see lots of enemies on screen and gigantic beasts in alan wake....still Gears2 is not the best looking title on 360, in my opinion....Resident Evil 5 and Forza 3 are. (I don't know about mass effect 2 I've only seen the PC version)
Ehhh...wasn't even close, Alan wake takes this one and it makes sense too because if gears 2 still looked better despite being older than that would be a let down.

it would be very weird if gears 2 , which is 1 and a half years old , was still better than alan wake.
Anyway , the lighting and vegetation effects in AW are some of the nicest Ive ever seen in a game.

Bioshock: infinte, The Last Of Us, Alan Wake's American Nightmare and Agent

Gears 2 is still the best looking 360 game and seriously, it even is comparable to most PS3 games. I seriously think that when Gears 3 comes, it will look better than anything on console.
So far this gen Gears 2 still have the best textures (on par with Uncharted 2) and Killzone 2 have the best shading effects. Technically there isn't even comparison.
Boo @ Alan Wake, Heavy Rain, Forza 3 and God of War 3 graphics and their defenders.

Alan Wake captures lighting far better than Gears of War 2 which is a bit of a bloom-fest due to the UT engine. Though the art directions are very different so hard to tell the definitive 'winner'.

You are both wrong. Timeshift (a shooter nobody played...sadly) has the bext textures and its about 2years old. Trust me just go play it and watch those textures. They are insane.
