What happened?  I'm a little surprised that you're surprised.

  • It's a multiplayer only game
  • There are better multiplayer games out there
  • The game itself isn't anything special
  • It's unbalanced
  • You have to go through a lot of crap to get to the 256 player gimmick
  • The 256 player thing isn't really that special (or isn't used in a special way)

Nor enough longevity. In my local shops a number of MAG copies are back as pre owned.

This takes away from future sales

New games were released to steal the thunder, maybe?

I've been under the impression (for a long time) that this is SOCOM on steroids. Considering the last SOCOM game is just breaking 1m, I actually think MAG sold pretty well.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
In the past we played games. In the future we watch games. - Forest-Spirit

I just get the feeling the shot themselves in the foot making you have to wait to play the fabled 256 player games.

Early on it feels solid enough but I think the number of people with the dedication for this kind of game is too lacking.

I think it'll crawl onwards for a while yet, and there is clearly already a lot of established players who are probably going to keep the title alive, but in the end I feel the title just didn't get you involved early on enough.

Also, as Cypher1980 points out I think the title is challenging enough (if you really want to be good) that people will drop out and others will replace them, but via used game sales which will eat into the apparent legs of the title.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Like a lot of PS3 exclusives, it was hyped to the moon in order to distinguish the console from its competitors. And then it came out and everyone found out it was just another game.

I am thinking about buying it, either MAG or Bad Company 2
The beta was not bad to me

The game sucks, yes i recently played it. Bad company 2 is a way better.

its an excellent game but like all shooters they get boring but it is by far the most tactical and communicative fps out there way more than BC2 and there is a strong community playing still.

i recently started playing again after the free dlc and my clan mates are back on as well , it definitely needs more maps and modes but other than that i play it more than any other shooter out there.

oh btw anyone interested in trying this you definitely should dont listen to haters, if you like having big clans and lots of communication to get things done and if you like fully customizable classes with lots of different skills or if you like massive battles or small scale the game has everything plus dedicated servers to run 256 players in one map, its not a game for impatient run and gunners
