This ought to turn out great. I remember all the guys just like him saying how awfully stupid, dumb, and unnecessary the Wii Remote and Balance Board looked and how they'd never succeed. XD They just *want* to see Nintendo fail, for some unfathomable reason they seem to feel extremely threatened by the big N.

Sure he fells threatened by Nintendo is a company that he cant make prediction on ... also now with this statement is pretty sure to me that Wii VS will be a HIT ^~

Yeah, he's just awkward. I honestly don't understand why we have to have a news article or a thread every time the guy so much as blows a fart.

Same here, i even think that he does some smart comments but those comments (the good ones) are so obvious that i wonder does someone really pays him for saying "PSP go will bomb if they dont come up with a price cut" WTF i can say and see that for free ... in fact i knew PSP go would bomb since E3.

"It looks tremendously stupid to me, but I'm sure I'm not the target market."

I fully agree with that statement. But hey, i need to see what games will come with Vitality Sensor first.

I have to agree with him.

Vitality Sensor is just a Heart Rate Monitor (HRM) and a HRM that attaches to your finger. Exercise equipment manufacturers have moved away from this sort of devices because they are clumsy and annoying to the user. They put the HRM in handles. People that workout either use straps or watches (I use a watch with a HRM in it.).

Nintendo may sell some Vitality sensors to people who use Wii Fit(+), but I think if the people were really serious about tracking thier HRM they will use a far more convient device like a watch. They arent that expensive. Maybe a Wii Vitality Sensor that is a watch that transmits wirelessly to the Wii would work, but that isnt what Nintendo has shown.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

The Vitality Sensor is a gamble by Nintendo. They need to show what it can do. If it does things useful then it will carve out another niche. I believe Pachter, in his role, has to come off as knowing everything. Because of this, if he doesn't get it, then he thinks it is stupid and won't sell. He probably can't give conditional anything like, "If it has this app or that then Nintendo has something else". He also likely has to hope the Wii does fade so he can fall back into his comfort zone and not work hard for a living at what he does, with the chance of him being VERY wrong.

It all depends on execution. Something like the Vitality Sensor could really shatter the boundaries of gaming in a way like Brain Age did, where you're really cutting the ties to gaming as we knew it, and moving into a pure lifestyle game. Wii Fit still retained gaming baggage. The proper accompanying software for the Vitality Sensor could be the next brain age, the next pure lifestyle game, and thus be super huge

But it all depends on execution, of course.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

well I doubt vs will be as big as move/natal, but it will help
but I kinda agree with him now, I think it's a stupid idea

Nobody really knows what the ideas is yet so to say it's stupid is kind of stupid. Besides I think he IS the target audience. How many american middle aged men die each year of heart attacks?

I agree with Pachter. Outside of this website I've never heard mention of the Vitality sensor and I barely even know what it is/does. I don't see how it will be a big deal or people will rush out to buy it.
