I think that Ubi is hoping for word of mouth, but if Red Steel 2 tanks, I can only imagine what they will do for future on the Wii. I suggest everyone to go and buy it, or after EA we have another publisher who'll abandon the HC audience.

Practically spoken: There are so many great Wii games in the line for 2010, so I don't bother what games Ubi and EA are publishing in the future.

By the way the sales of many HD-games in the last few month are disappointing too, but everyone only speaks of Wii games.

Pretty much what I expect in Americas. Not good, but hardly surprsing and certainly it could deliver with legs. I have to say though it would be nice to just *once* be able to declare a good third-party core game a hit without the "by the end of the year qualifier". Wii games are certainly cheaper to make, which makes profit easier, but it seems like its been a hell of a long time since a good (core) Wii 3rd party effort has opened to great numbers. I've been daring my fellow Wii jockeys to prove me wrong for quite a long time to no avail.

I like how the no-multiplayer excuse is become replacing the niche game excuse for yet another amazing exclusive that doesn't get the sales it deserves. RS2 is a deserving title. It's sales reflect on us.

The first game sold well early on based on a gameplay promise it couldn't fulfill. The second one will is tasked with overcoming the failure of the first's gameplay. But since it actually achieves that promise. It should keep going quite strong.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

I blame the HomeBrew channel for lack of sales of many games. I know several people who will only purchase the best of the best (Zelda, Mario, Metroid) and all others they download for free using HomeBrew.

Stop spreding miss information the homebrew channel has nothing to do with piracy absolutly nothing. You can install everything you need to play backups without the homebrew channel and you can install homebrew channel without being able to play backups.

Please educate your self before making statements like this.

I work with someone that just "hacked" his Wii to install the HomeBrew channel and he said it was great for all the "free" games he was downloading. He mentioned COD MW:R, Super Mario Bros Wii, and No More Heroes 2. He asked if I wanted him "hack" my Wii so I could get all these games too. I told him I was not interested. Several other people I know have had the same thing done to "get the free games". The main reason people install the HomeBrew channel is to get the Backup Loader, and the main reason people get the Backup Loader is to play pirated games. Is that educated enough?

You're right. It's sad, really. I, too, know of quite a few people with hacked Wii's. And none of them have done it for any reason other than to play pirated games. People hack their Wii's to play pirated games, it's as simple as that. There *may* be an extremely tiny majority that modify their Wii's and don't pirate games, but the harsh truth is that 99% of them do. And a LOT of them are casuals. I know quite a few of them, and the weird thing is they don't actually seem to think they're doing anything wrong, but rather, that they've found a nifty way to play games for free.

No it isnt, you dont need homebrew to run pirated games you can install and need to install backuploaders without Homebrew. If they tell you that you need homebrew to play pirated games then they are lying to you and are just as uninformed as you.

If you want to play pirated games you need

1. Wadinstaller to install the ios´es so you can run games through the diskchannel and you are set no need for homebrew

2. If you want to play from HD or SD you need a backuplauncher and you install the channel through wadinstaller and you are set no need for homebrew channel.

The homebrew channel is for homebrew and most people just install it with out actually needing it as you dont need it for playing backups.

Is that clear enough for you?

No he is not right as you dont need homebrew to hack your wii and you can run homebrew and still dont be able to run pirated games se above post. So stop this dreadfull misinformation you guys are spreading. Theese guys hve worked hard to bring homebrew to wii and done nothing to ease the use of pirated games. Appriciate their hardwork in bringing free games and apps that dont breach any copyright and stop blaming homebrew for something you dont like and agree with.

Well yeah, there are quality titles on HD which tanked in sales, like Bayonetta, selling only 1 milion copies. Oh wait...

And which great games do you have in mind? SMG2, M:M, Zelda Wii, these are 3 games. Red Steel 2 was one of the most anticipated titles amongst many core gamers on the Wii, I was watching that title since before last year's E3 and ever since. You have 3 big N games which is unheard of, so yes, that's great... But this was one of the biggest 3rd party titles. If it won't sell, guess who will think twice before investing into development of Wii games?

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

what's with all the piracy talk on Wii? I thought piracy hurts only PSP...

@OT: not amazing numbers but RS2 should at least meet Ubisoft adjusted goal of 500K copies.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Actually I was merely referring to the fact that there's a lot of piracy on the Wii, and the vast majority of people who do hack/hardmod/softmod their Wii (in whatever way), do so with the sole purpose of playing pirated games. And that the number of people who do this kind of thing is far bigger than a lot of people seem to realize.
