Forums - Sony Discussion - Question about PS3 Greatest Hits cases

I noticed something in Gamestop earlier this week, and it's something that's been nagging at me, so I figured I'd ask the users here. I know that Sony used red for their Greatest Hits labeling in the PS2, and it makes sense to continue it into the PS3. However, I also noticed that the cases themselves are red. What I find weird about this, is that back in the HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray wars, a red case (albeit darker) was used for HD-DVD cases. So why did Sony bring back the red case, a color typically associated with something the PS3 was designed to fight against?

Indeed thats ironic! I guess they thought, why change the color if it doesnt matter anymore.

I guess red is more appealing and catching to the eye.

i guess the differences are there but still pretty ironic

Well HD-DVD was closer to purple than red

They just want to show some respect to the fallen HD-DVD or make fun of it by taking their idea. Anyway I hate the red box. It makes my collection look wired since all but 3 are red box. I wish they would do another color. Maybe green!!! Haha

Actually they should have done Blue, just like the color of the Blu-ray cases

Red is vibrant... colorful... you will notice it on a shelf of clear cases and/or green ones. ;)

Reading way too much into it.

I prefer the clear cases that just have the red strip at the top, so you can just take the sticker off. The red cases are ugly. And the reason they're red is because red was their greatest hits color from PS2 and I guess they didn't feel like changing it.
