I don't see how someone can even fathom to spin "A third sequel will use the same engine as the original game" into something positive.

It's not positive news, it isn't news at all.

Do you have any actual idea what UE3 is and the difference transitions its gone through from Gears Of War 1 till Mass Effect 2.  I guess when Uncharted 3 is released using the same engine as used in the first 2 you will be saying its terrible?  You sound pretty ignorant upon the subject of game engines is you do not understand they evolve over time.

I have indeed seen the differences, and UE2 also had similar advancements as did UE1, though I dunno if you were around to see those in action. You just sound ignorant in everything from graphics all the way to gaming itself.

Let me educate you here on what graphical advancement in sequels should be.:

Baldur's Gate:

Baldur's Gate 2:

Much better resolution and lighting.

Half-Life:

Half-Life 2:

I think this clearly speaks for itself.

Unreal:

Unreal 2:

Pretty obvious as well.

Diablo:

Diablo 2:

I think that's plenty, there's a lot more out there. This is proper sequel advancement of graphics. This is a second sequel, not just the first sequel. I hope this has been educating enough for you.

Graphical improvements is a bit different when it comes to PC then consoles.

Did he seriously just try to explain how he knew about game engine improvements in relation to consoles by posting PC games?

all i know is i want me3.... and im not even close to being done with me2 yet

Was anyone actually surprised by this? It would be wasted effort if they had to rebuild everything when their current engine works perfectly for them.

And if you had played Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 you would notice a pretty big difference.

its so true ^^^ I really don't mind if they stick with the current engine. I just want how Cmdr Sheppard kick those giant tick's butt.

Sizable improvement from ME1 to 2 so even small enhancements will do me fine for 3. Looks good for fall 2011 with a lot of the tek work already done. I don't think EA will let any other franchise push them from the holiday sell-a-thon this time. Hope 2 hits 3.5m by then. A bundle with 1 and 2 that fall would move some HW and keep the IP in mind.

I don't have problem with the U3 engine for ME3, what I do have problems is the limitations of disc capacity which is screwing us PC gamers. As long as they won't allow instalation, the game will be linear and short. I'm still secretly hoping for ME3 to be content packed, but the chances are slim.

Anyway U3 engine is still good even these days, not impressive anymore, but that's mainly for it's over usage by other studios. If ME3 looks the same as ME2 I'm fine with that, just pimp up the story, content and gameplay and I'm all set.

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

Would be nice if they re-used some of the assets from ME1 & 2 to provide ME3 with an insane amount of content.

Could you imagine if the following locations were available in addition to a whole new world in ME3?

Citadel - Wards & Presidium
Omega
Illium
Tuchanka

Would be massive!

Yeah...one of my few comliants with ME2 was how small the cities were.  They weren't much bigger than KOTOR 2 worlds, and in some cases like the Citadel, it seemed smaller than in ME.
