IGN's list is not convincing. It's exactly what you'd expect from a bunch of young, tech-savvy white males who are nostalgic for the 1980s (a crappy decade, by the way, full of punishing recessions, Cold War militarism, and Third World debt depressions) and who make up most of IGN's UK, US and Australia staff.

I can't find Final Fantasy 10 or Final Fantasy 12 on the list. Half Life 2 is rated far higher than Half Life, despite noticeably uneven game-play (driving sequences... ugh) and a much less engaging story. (HL3 so far is a welcome return to form.) Devil May Cry 3 and MGS3 are tremendous games, but nowhere to be found. Neil Manke's They Hunger trilogy, one of the great game experiences of all time, is missing in action. Supermario 3 and Tetris are great games, but they were more important as stepping stones to greater things than for their limited narrative content.

On the other hand, they have Ico and Shadow of the Colossus in there, which is nice to see.
