Forums - General Discussion - Washington has become a group of thugs :(

Oh, snap. It looks like Nostrils Waxman canceled the hearings after Joe Barton called him out on the floor:

Do you think I will now get an apology from any of the people in this thread who gave me so much shit for calling it what it was? I don't either.

There are arguments people could use against Mafoo. However, Fox News and Bush aren't good ones.

"Washington has become a group of thugs"

Implying that it is recent ... then how is Bush not a good argument?

I agree with you on the Fox News thing.

If we're using the loose definition of "thug," I'd say the U.S. government has been a bunch of thugs ever since it stopped being isolationist and the Cold War began.

I'd star that date in 1913 haha.

Wel why should they?  Anyone can say whatever the hell they want on an internet without fear of repercussion, maintaining justice, appeal to ethos, and solid facts to back up opinions.  Barking up the wrong tree for that one especially when there is a tree right above.

This, is insane.

So AT&T said this healthcare bill is going to cost them a billion dollars, and it's going to have to look at cutting costs somehow (benefits). What does Washington do? They investigate AT&T.

You talk out against us, we will come down on you so hard, no one will do it again. This is a thug tactic. Fuck I hate what we have become.

I know this might sound crazy but is a $11 billion dollar profit instead of a $12 billion dollar one really that devastating for a company?

Yes, it is. Would you want $1 billion of your own money to missing, even if you had $11 billion more?

Well if anything this shows mafoo is wrong. Thugs aren't pussies, and if this weiner (who is part of washington) managed to get it called off, then clearly washington is a bunch of pussies. The thug scenario goes something like this.

Fuck, yo, you got a problem with our healtcare, then come into my "office" and let's "discuss" this shit!!

*weiner voice* Mmmm, I dunno guys, that doesn't seem right.

Fuck dog, you might be right. Aight, it's cool, any private industries want a sack of cash? We jes giv'n it out.

Anytime washington even looks like it might nip at the hand that feeds them they are called dirty red communist bastards, and then they quickly back down and go back to writing whatever legislation private industry wants them to. What thugs, next they might do something dastardly like say they are going to regulate wallstreet like they said they were going to a year ago, and then promptly do jack shit, or maybe write somebody a check. Biggie didn't have nothing on them. Look at washington bust some caps....or threaten too before pissing on themselves and asking if they can get private industry anything while they're out, because they totally don't mind, they were going out anyway...

Most thugs are pussies. They beat up on those who can't do anything about it, and when someone who can do something about it shows up, they back down like the pussies they are.

in this case, public opinion showed up, and there is nothing a congressman hates more, then to look like all that's wrong with the world on TV.

Just out of curiousity, you do know that the rest of the world is far left of america, right?

Wrong with the world was an expression. I meant "wrong with Washington".

No one around April 15th wants to be on TV telling a company why they need to pay a billion in taxes. Esp when on top of that, jobs are being lost at a higher then expected rate.

Depends on how you look at it.

If you believe PoliticalCompass.org is correct in its analysis of politicians, the average US politician is quite close to most politicians in democracies around the world. The only countries that are far left would be the ones of dubious leadership like those in Africa, SE Asia and the like.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
