Actually its information I got within the last month in response to the last time a thread like this came up. The developers who make PSN games exclusively are also largely/wholly funded by Sony or given free access to their Phyre engine which is a part exchange in money equivalent services.

It doesn't matter when you get the data, it's what time frame the data is dependent on. Most likely the data is dependent on 2009 numbers. For a majority of the year the 360 was expanding it's lead until the slim release and even then the software sales trends tend to trail behind the hardware trends. The change in tide of more people buying PS3 hardware wont translate into more people buying PS3 software until later in a snowball effect. As for PSN games, when it takes many months at the least for a game to be developed, most of the games that have come out were decided way back when the PS3 was getting it's but kicked in sales. That doesn't mean that developers this year will be equally as hesitant to develop for the PS3/PSN as they were in the past.

It is very possible that the PS3 could win the majority of the weeks from here to the end of 2010. It really depends on Modnation Racers, The Last Guardian, Agent, FF14 and when GT5, SOCOM 4 and David Jaffies game gets released. Along with how well the multies sell (which has been very good for the PS3 of late).

Of course the 360 will beat it when Reach is relaesed and a few other titles also, but they all depend on when the PS3 is gonna release the above mentioned exclusive SW and what else both companies have up there sleeve.

I expect E3 to be very big for both these two giants.

I must admit, it was smart to delay GT5 till the end of the year. The 1st quarter was way too heavily loaded already for the PS3. This way it will give GT5 an even bigger boost for the holidays while competing with Halo and meet the needs for gamers starving for a new killer app racer, all while polishing the game to perfection and adding tonnes of new gameplay.

Lets no forget also, that more PS3s sold then 360s, in turn more SW will be sold in general for the PS3.

Shooters and W-Rpgs dominates on 360. Fable II has sold more than FF XIII yet. Halo 3 has 10 milions nothing on Ps3 has and will have 10 milions... i Repeat NOTHING ! Only Modern Warfare 3 and that´s just maybe.

Xbox 360 has piracy and even with that it has much more SW sold than Ps3 ... MUCH MORE !

Ps3 Total : 225,389,182
Xbox 360 Total (WITH PIRACY) : 337,203,923

Modern Warfare 2 on 360 is ahead of 10 Milions already and we are only in MArch!

Ps3 had is time this year , best games have come already - God of War 3. Only GT5 can do better than God of War 3 and NOTHING ELSE ... Killzone 3 wont do the same , UnCharted 3 wont do the same...

With Games Like Splinter Cell Conviction , Alan Wake , CrackDown 2 , Fable 3 , Halo Reach , PGR5 and Gears of War 3 Coming i can only feel bad for Ps3 in SW Sales because it will get Destroyed ! Not to mention NATAL.

Um you DO realize that MW2 is still selling like 80k per week right? Even accounting for the fact that its leg will be cut by the next iteration of COD coming out this holiday season, the game still will do at least 50k+ every week till august which means anotther million at the very least. Holiday should boost this to around 1.5 million even with the New COD out. MW2 Will reach 9 Million comfortably by end of financial year and slowly trickle to 10 million.

With regards to the software total, its really not relevant as not only did the 360 had a year's head start. It was kicking the PS3's hat for a good part off 2 years, this is regarding future trend, not past sale.

Now your list of Game.

And as for your software? Kudos to Reach. It will be monstrous, so will Gears (though it won't be release until next year). The rest are all respectable too. But I'm willing to bet Reach will outsell all the other combined. We'll see but I don't think should count Sony out just yet ;)

For all those outspoken Xbox 360 fans, don't count Sony out yet or ever as a matter of fact. Just as one hand is played, it will be countered with another hand. Microsoft's lineup looks really good this year, but so does Sonys. A lot of incredible games have still yet to be released from both consoles, so we will have to wait and see what's going to happen. But I'm saddened by the fact that software on the PS3 doesn't sell like hotcakes! :(

Did you even play crackdown or are you just citing some nonsensical anecdotal experience? The first one was superb and definately not a "popcorn" game that only entertained for a day or two.

 

Sadly I have. You can speedrun the entire story mode in 30minutes... this creates the very definition of a popcorn game. Admitadly with the collectables it was able to entertain me for as I say, 2 days (probably about 12hours), I played it through to standard completion and got 400~ of the 500 collectables, completed most extras. Never got 100% of course, but unless your that type of guy Crackdown 1 will only hold you for at max a week.

Why in hell would you ever speedrun a sandbox game?  That completely defeats the purpose.  If you're playing it just for story mode you're platying the wrong type of games...
