Forums - Sony Discussion - PS3 60gig B/C surviving owners

Well, I bought mine around the end of 2006 too. I try to vacuum mine at least once a week, when I am cleaning up my room. So far no problem at all except for once when it hanged and I thought all my save files were gone. I sent it to Sony's repair centre and they managed to get back all my save files still intact. Thank goodness.

And it only hanged once when I was playing White Knight Chronicles. Other than these, it is still working like a good ole machine.

I have 3 years with my 60 g and works beautiful except for Fallout 3 I've experiment a lot of freeze with the game, but I don't know if it's because of the console or the game. It's a great console probably the best model of the PS3.

Launch 60gb
US of A
$600
No Problems- I move my system around a lot not only bedroom to bedroom, but state to state. I never keep in an enclosed space or vacuum it.

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

Bought October 2007

Cost £350

It froze during Dead space (Nov 2008) and stopped reading discs; Sony sent a refurb for free which has lasted longer than the original model. I anticipate a YLOD somewhere down the line so I'll get a 250GB slim if/when that happens.

Bought the PS3 60gb on March 23rd 2007, when it was released in Europe.
Price was 600€ + a free game. Never had any problems with it and it is still working fine .

I got mine in May 2007 for $599.99 US with and additional Sixaxis included (Sam's Club Special).  It's locked up a couple of times in the past few years, but besides that it's run like a champ.

(As I said in a a previous thread about this)

1st. I thought at first that it was a broken HDMI port, turned out my motherboard was fried.. This happened in the WINTER (!) and I allways keep my Ps3s at a good spot with lots of ventilation. 3/4 year

2nd. YLOD while playing Fallout 3. 1/2 Year old

3th. YLOD after starting up the Ps3 after a month of not playing on it. (Kept it clean though).

4th. Broken Blu-Ray reader. (Worse then a broken lens, this requires to replace the whole blu-ray drive.)

5th. YLOD while playing Fallout 3 GOTY (Ps3 version is really focked up)

6th. Not playing films properly. Purple screen every 10 seconds or so..

Got it for free with a Bravia TV in June 2007.

Launch 60g, purchased on ebay one month post launch (with the profits from my two launch 20g PS3 resells).

Currently a 320gb hdd inside, no issues to date with my system. Backwards compatibility function used exactly one time, to play PS2 Buzz! at my sister's house, and only because we didn't feel like disconnecting the PS3 to play the PS2.

Dunno bout the rest of you, but I've got far too many PS3 games to play to even think about playing PS2 games.

Anyhow, launch system, never had a problem with it, and it gets plenty of game playing, blu-ray watching, media streaming use. I've owned every major system (and most minor systems) over the years, and the PS3 is my all time favorite.

November 2007 in the EU region for 600 euro. Never died or something. I'v played many many hours on it. Almost every day at least 2 hours. I also did some very long sessions from 10 to 18 hours. I'm very happy with it !

I got a PS3 bc 60gig on the second day after the release. It still works fine is upgraded to 250gig, and I payed only 120 Euro... the rest to 350 Euro was paid by uncle
