Forums - Sony Discussion - PS3 60gig B/C surviving owners

I bought my 60GB July of 07. Haven't had a single problem with it.

Around the Network

I got my 60 GB PS3 in January of 2007.

I paid $660 CDN.

It died in January of 2010 (3 years and 3 weeks since I bought it).

I was resurrected in February of 2010 (Gilksy's solder reflow procedure, with some modifications).

So it looks like most people here paid quite a lot for the launch ps3 and its amazing most of them are still working. 2006 seems ages ago. I was really interested if the failure rate is that big.

I have the 60GB I got it in Feb or Mar of 07 don't quite recall, for $600. The laser crapped out on me 13 months later right after the warranty expired of course and Sony fixed it for $75. I haven't had problem since. I love it but I might buy a slim one day and xfer all my data. No regrets $75 for more than 3 years of use isnt bad.

Mine is a 60GB bought brand new on eBay in April 2007 (Just before they discontinue it). I got it for 550 with shipping I believe. Was a pretty bad deal, because after the discontinuation announcement, some stores were cleaning them off shelves for 400 I heard. Oh and ya, it's still kicking...and hopefully, it'll be good to last me until next gen.
