Forums - Gaming Discussion - What do you hate most about games?

For those who complain about the 10hr or less campaigns should realize that games are for playing over and over like a movie and not just purely for completion and never to be played again. Besides some games are more appropriate for not taking forever to finish otherwise ideas put into the game would run out, enemies would become tiresome to fight for the hundred time, and the story would either become dull or uninteresting. Not every game works out like an RPG to have dozens of hours to play with dozens of sidequeest to explore, which basically only serves to drag out the game for things that served little purpose other than having some extra dough and experience points.

the end

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

-DLC
-Regenerating Health
-Carrying a limited number of guns
-RPGs with simple mechanics
-Leveling in games which are not RPGs
-Shitty UIs and poor settings in PC games
-Poor control schemes in console games
-Gray/Brown worlds, I consider games with those to have very shitty graphics, no matter the polygons
- $60 games
-Slow FPS games which also have poor tactical elements
-Simple Strategy games, especially if tun based
-Cut-scenes longer than a total of 30 minutes. Games are not movies, and I have yet to see a game that doesn't blow that has more than 30 mins of cut-scenes. 60-min allowed for games that have over 30+ hours of pure gameplay.
-FPS games with too few guns, or guns which are basically the same just with some tweaked properties.
-Buggy games, this was a feature of only PC games, and now it hopped on the HD systems as well.
-Lack of modding tools and SDKs, this goes together with DLC, absolutely no excuse for not having this with any game.
-Shooters on consoles leading to dumbed down shooters on the PC
-Platformers, sports, and party games on PC

There is more, but a lot of things I hate have started this generation, though a bunch are from many many years ago. There is also more that I can't just think about.

When you are in a QTE and still get hit by other guys.

-In game FMV that last more than 2 minutes
-Dual Analoge
-leveling up, it's annoying that you kill every enemy you meet and you still not have a high enough level at the end of the game
-A chain of QTE that starts over when you fail(i'm looking at you God of War)
-Online multiplayer

People are saying games art too short for $60:

Go back to the 80's and 90's. Some of the best games ever are only a couple of hours long and they cost $50-$70. I played Contra, Super Mario Bros., Bionic Commando, and Goldeneye when they were brand new! I can beat Shadowgate in less than 15 minutes! So, while the experiences are more refined, technically superior, and much longer, the price has only gone up $10 (and, like I said, some games of the age --especially N64 games -cost even more).

I love gaming.

First off, what's screen tearing? I'm too lazy to look it up.

And secondly, franchises that have a sequel every year and the fact that Infinity Ward never got the message that COD is terrible.

1. Infinity Ward does not want a CoD game every year, Activision does
2. Who is this message going to come from? The reviewers that have given their last few games averages over 90 or the people who have lead to the over 40m sales

Review scores and sales mean nothing these days.

I really don't understand why CoD: MW2 got such high reviews. Don't get me wrong, it's AAA quality, but they release CoD games every freaking year and nothing much changes to be honest.

A great game is still a great game, and the MP is miles better than WaW, and while the improvements are minimal, they are still there, and it is still a must have game

This is pretty stupid, but the thing I most hate is when you can skip a cutscene by just pressing a button once. I tend to get the urge of pressing all the buttons during cutscenes.

For example, in No More Heroes 2, when you press a button during the cutscenes it says "press - to skip". That's the way I like it

I don't know if this makes sense :p

Yeah but it took me 60+ hours of Contra to get to the end without cheating. Same with SMB. Sure, when I got the hang of each game it was shorter, but beating it took a long while at that age.

Hey, it's just my opinion on CoD. I don't mind that you love them all, that's your fair opinion.
