Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The VGC Official Monster Hunter Tri Thread

Ok, im at 5 HP now. The tip for people starting out, play "everybody allowed" citys. That way you can go on really tough missions with better players and get shitloads of HPS to bump your score (aslong as ur alive at the end you cash in, and i doubt the other players care if you fight alongside them or not).

This probably isn't new advice but i thought i would state the obvious.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

ok, so I finally figured out Barroth. The lance is the way to go, I beat him using just 5 mega pots in about 20 min.... Considering w/ the great sword I lost due to time running out I would say the Lance is a good fit.

The only moves that gets me NOT due to me just being to agressive is the tail spin... lucky it is really not to bad damage wise.

Basically all you have to due is let him charge into your shield he will hit it and stop, while he is tail whipping (the one at the end of the charge) give him 2-3 impact shots to his arms and underbelly. This is slow, but until you get better weapons it is pretty fail proof but again slow. It take between 20-30 min. 15 at best.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

If you're good with the lance, yes, that's the best weapon to use first time fighting this beast. You can hit specific spots with ease, and you can defend when he goes on a rampage (it's kinda hard to cut his tail off, though).

Personally, I'm very good at dodging, so Long Sword is the best for me against him. He'll hit me 3-5 times at most, while I combo his legs and arms. Constantly falls down and paralyzes, giving me enough time to cut off his tail as well

PS: I finally got a Rathian Plate today, when playing online, I have Health +50, Hearing, Fire Resistance +10 and Reduced Stun, all amazing skills! Kinda missing marathon runner though, I'm only using Barroth set now along with a Lance.

Has anyone tried Wii Speak online yet? I wonder if the device itself sucks, or if HVS sucked at programing the echo reduection tech for it in TC.

I just started playing the game (about 7 hours in, single player only), and im not sure if im doing something wrong. Ive tried to break off some tails, but i end up killing the creature instead. Is the option to break off parts of the monster avalible only in larger monsters?

Woot, finally got the Qurapico in SP... there were only 2 mns left ^^

The only monsters that I ran into that you can cut their tail is the Royal lutrought thing? Don't know his name.....
Usually you can cut off the tail on large monsters. Though you can't do it with the great jaggi for some stupid reason

Also how can I go to other places without going on quests? I want to pack up on items without being limited

I used the starter SA and killed him in about 12 the first time I played the NA version =P, but I'm experienced, just don't bring chacha to the fight because he's a shit ass burden vs barroth.

it only sucks if people don't use headphones and decide to blow your fucking ears out, which resulted in me having it disabled most of the time atm to prevent headaches.

Is this game like Diablo in the sense that you get addition bonuses for each piece you wear in a set?

Right now I have Barroth - Chest and Legs, Quez - Helmit and Belt, and Jaggi Arms(I like the double slots). I plan on Going with Barroth Helmit soon.

Do I have to actually cut off Barroth's tail to get a Tail? Or can I get one in the Quest Winning box.

From my understanding there's no multiplier effect or anything, just that certain things in the same set will give boosts to the same skills, so it's easier to get up one whole skill by running together whole sets.

If you're really into it, you can sometimes find better sets if you want to optimize certain skills, but the easiest way to optimize is by building a set, but there's no special reward for building the set outside of the statistics that certain pieces would give me anyway.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
