Been told by my doctor to quit gaming for 6 weeks thanks  to some sort of nerve damage in my left hand from holding a controller too long. It's all thanks to a 2 week long session of monster hunter tri where I sunk in 100 hours and didn't pay any attention to the constant pins and needles while I was playing, using the cc pro of course.

Can't believe it, I still haven't finished alan wake and I just downloaded final fantasy 9 aswell. Lucky I can still play my dsi in small doses though otherwise I would go nuts :{

I probably shouldn't mention this, but... wouldn't you still be able to play using the Wiimote and Nunchuk, i.e. the most ergonomic controller ever invented?

lol, yeah probably but after realising how addicted i'd gotten I left an online double trouble quest half way through (first time i'd ever willingly left a quest online), ejected the disc and gave it away :) I have a very addictive personality so games like mh are like heroin to me :)

nintendo and sega fan since i was old enough to hold a game controller.

note: my games collection on my profile is only 20ish% complete, i've got a boatload of 360,saturn and dreamcast games to add and a few ps3 games, thanks :)

^^ DAM man!! I would die 6 weeks without gaming. Thank god for the ds.

Cleared out my second Urgent quest and got a good Gigginox run in (much better with Lance, definitely, though it was a kickass group altogether).

Now i must focus on offline Lagi, though i would like to upgrade my Lance first.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

FYI I really beat easily offline lagi at my first run, with full ingot armor lvl 3/4, and a thunder 8 charm, with a 2 thunder decoration : you'll have easily a 35 thunder resistance for an overall 120 armor meaning its electrical attacks will be just a few scratches. The best weapon for me at that moment against him is a fire hammer. You can get the money and elements for the ingot armor if you do a few powderstone runs with the loc lac armor ( with the useful transporter skill)

Ok,  at the moment, i am stuck at HR 30 online because of that overpowered cheating haxxorz Diablos. I am also stuck at 5 stars quest offline. I do not get how i can harm him in any way. Today, I made several runs with different teams of lvl 25 - 35 guys, and we systematically, pathetically died under its claws. There's no opening to him. He keeps on swinging ihs tail. You can't hit him from the rear, neither from the sides because its tail sweeps. Hitting him on the head is suicide. Hitting him below is not efficient because of his trampling move.

I've read on ze internetz the sonic bomb trick, that i almost never can do myself. Do you have to shoot the sonic bomb as soon as he is in the ground ? Also, is it right that he has a paralysis weakness ? Moreover, I can't have him stick its clws in the walls, I get trampled.

I have to try him with rathian armor, with earpkugs and sense skills, a big load of flash bombs and sonic bombs, a paralykeet (para hammer) or anahanta boneblade , and chacha with earplug as well. I'll bring bomb also, so if i manage to get him with the sonic bomb trick, I'll bomb him to death (not mine, but his, I hope !). And shitload of traps.

Anyone has some other tips for a (whining) fellow hunter ?

When his tail is just going under is the best time to throw the bomb. (Alternately, ask Iwata to drop it for you)  The problem you're having is likely that it does not work when he is in rage mode, and Diablos pretty much goes into rage mode when someone looks in his general direction.

Your better bets are to use traps, to keep your back to a wall when feasible (preferably the pillars in the Area with the cacti), and to track his underground movements so he doesn't spring up at you.  It's easiest with a lance, since you can block with minimal damage, but if you're familiar with the timing it's quite possible to use your rolls and dives to get clear.

In terms of hurting him, he mostly moves too quickly to get off long combos, so don't expect to do so.  Always expect a tail swipe after he charges and sits still for a second, so wait until the last swipe is ending before going in and nibbling away at his health.  If you're running towards him, the right side is *slightly* safer, but not by much. Consider bringing flash bombs to make him a bit more predictable.  Paralysis is also a wonderful thing with him.

Overall, just don't get greedy.  He attacks quickly and hits hard, so don't think you'll have time to Triple Pound him.  Just get your lumps in where you can, reserve your traps until he's getting fatigued (and not raging!), then go all out.  You'll know the end is near when he heads to his lair: a few bombs placed near his sleeping head, a whack or two, and you'll emerge victorious!

If you want, I'll be happy to go through it with you online tomorrow.

thanx o7 I'll see tomorrow

Offline Lagiacrus wasn't hard, just really long. Ran right down to the wire, so i just kept going back, sharpening, and Charging to optimize my attack time. Him on the ground was much harder, as i have little to no idea how to avoid his sideways jumps at you, since he doesn't leave enough time to dodge, and it can't be totally blocked.

Then i decided a nice, simple egg delivery quest would be a good change of pace, but it devolved into a fight with Rathian, who just refused to jump out of the region, but i eventually got it.

I'm on the verge of a ton of new weapons at this point, though, so things are looking up.

When he's on land (or in water, for that matter) you should be focusing on either his chest or his tail, as those are his weak spots.  He's especially vulnerable in the chest when he's on land, since he telegraphs all of his forward-attacks.

I decided to play online a lot today, and got to the 3 Star Quests' Urgent Quest. I must say I was not expecting this at all! I skipped the event and thought I would never be able to do it again. Man was it fun with 4 people!

I'm off fighting high rank monsters now. Quru Plus, here I come!

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...
