“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

I was on the 2nd disc of FFXIII when I got Y3 and I haven't played anything else since! I found Y3 to be much more like Shenmue then the other Yakuza games. There's even a cats side mission! Plus the whole mysterious man who looks like Kazuma's father, who shot Daigo thing...

Yakuza 3 is my favourite game 2010 with God of War 3 and maybe Final Fantasy 13 =)

the best RPG's are coming 2013 !!!! oh my god, this is perfect for RPG-GAMER = ) Ni No Kuni - 25 january, Time and Eternity, tales of xillia (PS3) and the maybe best game ever: metal gear solid ground zero

I'm a big fan of the series I finished all its games inclusing Kenzan! and now bought the 3rd one English just to support the game :P.

shenmue was more artsy, contemplative, and mysterious. One would lose time just feeding cats or talking to weird people without purpose. Yakuza has evolved towards a more open-ended world but you still feel the story is predictable.

It's like comparing David Lynch with John Woo
With david lynch/ shenmue you wondered what is it that i am seeing doing
With John Woo/ yakuza you know what's going on and all you care about is going at it with a bang

You can do that on Yakuza you know?

plus the story is NOT predictable at all, you haven't played it right?

seems you haven't played any of them lol

yeah , i only played Yakuza 1 , Yakuza 2 , Yakuza 3 , Shenmue 1 , and Shenmue 2.

i didn't play any of them lol

I tried playing Yakuza 1 and I hated it. That's why i'm not getting Yakuza 3.

Shenmue is just THE best.

Yakuza 3 is much more open than Yakuza 1 , Yakuza 1 wasn't like Shenmue actually, it was very linear.

Do I have to play 1 and 2 to understand Yakuza 3?

The fights still happen when walkling on the streets?

IT'S TIME FOR SHENMUE III, SEGA!

i'll post what i said to Boutros

there is a brief "cinematic" story videos in the main menu that tells the story of Yakuza 1 and 2, even if you don't want to watch these, the start of the game actually will make you understand more about the story by some events happening such as at the start he will visit somewhere that will make him remember stuff happened to other characters, and also other characters will be "hey remember that guy that did something because of something something"

it does a great job in giving the storyline to new comers, that people who PLAYED the older games will be like "Yeah , why are you being so specific man? i already know..."

and about those random fight they're still here, but not as common as Yakuza 1 , and you can't find them anywhere just the gang places or the poor neighboors.
