Forums - Sony Discussion - They said 60 hours, I beat it in 35-the biggest problem of Final Fantasy 13

Meh, length in jrpgs is overrated. Quality > Quantity. Often times, long jrpgs feel like they have a lot of filler content and I get long bored of them before the game ends. I don't know how anyone can complain that 35 hours of content is too short. That's still a lot of bang for your buck. About $2 for every hour of entertainment. I'd much rather 35 entertaining hours over 60 hours of diluted quality. That is not to say that FF13 is entertaining. I wouldn't know. Haven't played it yet. Will get around to it eventually. The plan was to rent FF13 this month but the whole rental queue thing screwed me over so I gotta wait awhile until there's a copy available to rent (not that I'm in a rush to play FF13). I certaintly am not buying this as jrpgs are pretty hit or miss with me these days.

I am at 102hours

I finished at 44 hours

now going back to pulse

But since I ALWAYS skipped the annoying & boring minigames in all other FF's (blitzball being the worst thing ever made) I have no issues with the time.

I agree on the blitzball comment. The only mini games I think I played and enjoyed were in Suikoden.

the biggest problem with FFXIII is that the gameplay just seems like a chore you have to do in between the cut scenes. the RPG genre is known for having a long story with a ton of great gameplay. RPGs need side quests and A WORLD MAP! FFX is the only one that got away with having no map to explore

You skipped all of the sidequests and it still took you 35 hours. Sounds like a good deal imo.

that's prolly why SE wants to make a FF13-2 or DLC, I'm personally at hmmm... let me boot up the ps3......... 41hours on chapter 12 I guess. I'm used to 35-40+ hour JRPGs though, I don't rank FF stuff any higher than other good JRPGs so this is fine.

I beat it in 48 hours and that was with around 15 hours of just grinding and doing missions. I see no reason whatsoever to go back to this game again ever, the story didn't do it for me and like you said there's nothing else to do then just fight.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)
