Forums - Sony Discussion - PS3 Unreal Tournament 3 Goes Gold, Mark Rein Guesses Dec. 10th Ship Date

You're right that it was a good decision for sony. I believe it was a poor decision for Epic. The PC/PS3 sales are so clearly (to me) going to cannibalize the 360 sales which will be crap for this game. The same way Elder Scrolls Oblivion being out on 360/PC for a year killed any chance at great sales for it on PS3. Sega's poor decision to release virtua fighter 5 on the 360 months later resulted in terrible sales on both systems in the end.

Epic may be repeating Sega's blunder by releasing a game that is going to be overlooked on the PS3 during the holidays. Then releasing it in like May or sometime on 360 which will also sell like crap by then since few will care by then. It'll result in PC - Good sales, PS3 - poor-average sales, 360-poor sales. Then Epic will be crying that console owners don't buy good PC games as an excuse.

@ erikers

Be sure Midway didn't decide to release PS3 exclusive because they like Sony more. It's business. First of all there is much tougher competition on X360 right now. PS3 online gamers still played Resistance... until CoD4. Unreal offers much more complex online (vechicles etc.). PS3 simply needs such game.

BTW VF5 on PS3 sold almost half a million. Not a spectacular success but definitely not a flop. VF4 sold 1,7 million copies on PS2. If you consider userbase VF5 did pretty well.

Same goes with Oblivion. Port cost them maybe around 20% more and they sold extra 500k copies. Sounds good for me.

Great news for Sony ... if Haze is no more , they have at least one big exclusive FPS for this holiday :)

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

Excellent news. I'm going to import this game, so I can play it before xmas.

How can you actually be a mod here responding like that?  You consistently come up with the most childish and ridiculous responses, even when somebody puts out a serious, well thought out post with good points this is the kind of crap that comes back as a response.

I'm discussing what I think will possibly happen with the sales of the game and you respond with something about halo? I'm not even going to entertain your off topic post and discuss anything about halo on a Sony forum.

If Sony and Epic did a big ad campaign for this like MS did with Gears, this will sell very well, if they don't then it will be ignored by the general public, time to step up and make some killer ads for this.

Best gaming news in a while for me, had totally put this in the 08 list. One more game that's gonna drain my resources.

Also why are people talking about Haze like it's some great game, just cause it's from Free Radical? That game might be the least interesting exclusive this whole generation....

Think about it, are you really putting Haze and UT3 in the same category? Might as well add Timeshit while you're at it...

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

The prequels were both amazing, I'm sure this one will be as good if not better.

@ckmlb

I agree, also how can you type all of that on ur ps3?
