Forums - Gaming Discussion - Single-player and online multiplayer

When getting a new game I generally tend to focus on single-player first and then move on to online multiplayer only after completing the main story or campaign at least once. I worked it out this way for MGS4, KZ2 and GTA4 (in fact haven't gotten to the online yet as I still haven't completed the story!).

The only game that I did not work it out that way was LBP as I got playing the story with my gf and we took ages to go through!

What is your experience with single player and online multi-player? Do you always plow through the single player campaign first?

I always play Single player first on any game. I do not rush I take my sweet time. The ones I have with online MP I like are 2 racing ones and 2 VS type games. I prefer local MP much more.

I always try to finish the Single Player Campaign before even touching the Multiplayer. Done this fro most of my games.

Depends on if i get the game at launch or not. If it's launch I'll head straight into multiplayer so I can learn quickly the tricks before everyone else does so I don't join up late everyone has a leg up on me.

CURRENTLY PLAYING:  Warframe, Witcher 2

I'll start with the single player but will play the multiplayer before finishing.

I always play SP first and don't always even try online. I haven't touched online in Bioshock 2 and probably won't - for me the effort to add it was misplaced. GTAIV I've never bothered with online, either.

Perhaps as punishment, the only game recently I did want to go online with, AvP, has proven to be weak so far. I want to play full games of Infestation and there never seems to be enough players to make it come alive.

I got it on PS3 because my eldest son wanted to play there but I think I'm going to have to buy it on PC as well and try that.

I'm more an SP, offline coop kind of player on consoles. My main online gaming is on PC, mainly Valve titles over Steam - L4D 1 & 2, Day of Defeat, Team Fortress 2, etc But even there I haven't been online as much recently.

TBH I've been finding online kind of boring and repetitive of late - the arguments I think many use for it not being repetitive, playing humans, etc. just don't hold for me. I find that on consoles there tends to be too few maps, too few players, too much matchmaking and too much chatter! Also too few mods and custom made maps.

I think I'm falling out of tune finally with gaming trends. Still, I've only been playing games for like 30 years or more so I can't complain!

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I marathon single player games. I beat No More Heroes 2 in less than 8 hours.

i focus on both. i would never get a fps game for the single player campaign and i love shooters.

Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

I never play multiplayer unless the game is made to be one (a fighting game or any typical racing game. If there's a story mode in them, I'll definitely play them first though).

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Watch my insane gameplay videos on my YouTube page!

SP first, MP second if it's any good.
