Wow, the 3DS has everybody in an uproar (mainly Sony fans).

I'm want to know how Sony brought 3D gaming to the mainstream?

I also like to know when this supposedly happened...

haha no, he did not get owned...its a sample number of 3000, no where near the number of DS owners...this graph does not stay true to the gaming demographic of the ds....

You should get edumacated and learn some statistics. A sample size of a few thousand is damn good, even for an election poll.

i am taking statistics, and yes a few thousand is good in some cases, but there are so many other variables...like how the "interview" is, and the questions asked....however, i do not see it as a good source, i mean 3000 just isnt enough, ESPECIALLY since they were all surveyed in the same town

If you are indeed taking statistics, then your teachers are failing you.  First of all, a sample size of 3000 is MORE than enough to obtain a valid and significant data set from which the population can be generalized.  Granted, there are such things as flawed or biased sampling methods, but your arguement about "how the interview is" is pretty flimsy in this case because the question at hand cannot be "loaded".  Either you own a DS or you don't.  Secondly, I have taken 4 classes in human psychology, does that make me Freud?

Hope not he was suppose to be a bit of a ass

Me too, and I do think I do think that a cigar is sometimes JUST a cigar.

Square made 3-D Worldrunner on the NES in 1987. It was their first game to make it to America. It had 3-D, for use with glasses.

So this is all Square's fault. They also made Rad Racer in 3-D, same year. It was programmed by Nasir Gebelli, designed and supervised by Hironobu Sakaguchi, and featured music by Nobuo Uematsu, right before they made Final Fantasy, same year.

(Magic Carpet on the PC kicked ass in 3-D too, back in 1994. I wonder if the PSN port still lets you wear 3-D glasses.)

And for the record, I'm not an 8 or 9 year old, and I have more than one DS. In real life (as in not this web site of rabid crazies), almost every gamer I know is in their 20s or 30s. Almost all of them have a DS. This PR statement was trying to grossly mislabel Nintendo as "just for babies." Sony and MS have both been trying to do that for a decade. Even Bill Gates said the Wii isn't a competitor to the 360 because it only caters to the younger market. Now... Natal is coming out so families and 9 year old girls and moms can dance in their living rooms.

why do people deny that the wii and ds are aimed at the younger demographic?

it is absurd to even argue this point... sure there are those in their late 20's and early 30's that may play it... but most will only do so to spend time with their own kids.

going by my experience, the majority of those in the age group of 16-25 will not use the wii/ds as their primary gaming provider.

the gaming library of the ds/wii is proof that it is made for the younger audience... for every No more heores, there are 20 brain age and animal crossing type games.

Nobody is deying that, but using this as an argument about the 3D experience is ... quite dumb even for the "executive yadda yadda" point of view

Oh yes Sony, because we all know that 9 year olds hate 3D...FFS when I was 9, I would have shit allover myself to just SEE something in 3D.

Fact is, this will make Nintendo tons of money, and they will be the first one to offer it. Sony will copy it, of course, just like the Wii with motion control and just like the DS with touch screens(speculation, but can you imagine a PSP2 without a touch screen, really?). Now all consoles have motion controls and all devices have touch screens, and Nintendo is vastly wealthy with everyone either copying their current systems, or with plans to copy said systems in the very near future.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Well, all handheld gaming consoles are aimed at a younger audience. You really think the Halo Crowd is rocking a PSP?

Yes, the DS has the vast advantage in casual games, but imo, it also has a relative advantage in core games, and shockingly, that is due mostly in part to 1st party Nintendo games or games that didn't sell that well to begin with.

Of course, not selling well on DS is usually a hit on the PSP proportionally, so lets not confuse ourselves. Even if the DS has a smaller core audience proportionally, it is still likely that the core DS audience is larger than the core PSP audience, simply due to the largely disproportional userbase.

That said, I guarntee that kids love 3D, it seems perfect for them, and Sony's statement is pure spin. This is going to sell like crack gone super sayijin, and I highly doubt even Sony would deny that.

Oh man I remember 3-D Worldrunner. It had some kind of scary dragon boss, right? Or somehting like that.

That game was great. I played it a LOT.
