Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo 3DS Speculation Thread

I just read this story on the CNN news ticker, already. Once the media gets a hold of this expect it to be another Nintendo Phenomenon.

Well, certain parts of the media have already gotten ahold of NEGATIVE feedback. Pachter and some random dev have both already tried downplaying it.

Which is funny because they haven't even knew about the thing or how it works. According to previous rumors by devs they seem to be pretty excited about it...the ones who actually seen it that is.

So does anybody think this will be a true successor to the DS like the tentative name suggests or do you think it'll be more similar to the Gameboy design?

It was talked about on radio this morning also. Dunno what channel.

Hello guys,

Here is my guess, a possibility that I haven't read anywhere. You have probably already watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzRq7GhBLRQ. The last part is the important one, I have made a gif to make it clearer:

I think that Nintendo will use the camera to track where the extremity of the stylus is quite like the pointing aspect of the PS Move but without motion controls. It could determine where you point your stylus and how far you point it from the screen and of course it will use this data to interact with the game. I think it will be perfect to have the impression to interact with 3D elements.

That's... interesting. Hmm.

Who knows, Nintendo might just implement something similar. It's intriguing, that's for sure, but I guess we'll have to wait and see just what the system will be like. E3 can't come soon enough!

That seems like a good fit for a 3D control mechanism

I want Star Fox

Especially since one of the rumors about the 3DS involved rumble in the stylus. The biggest problem with Natal is that you can't "feel" what you're doing, while with the Wii and PSMove, you can.
