Forums - Gaming Discussion - PS Move will succeed due to better visuals than Wii, less 'embarrassment'

So "Move" will sell to people who care deeply about what people see them doing? Sounds like the sort of insecurity that made the 16-bit wars such fun.

WHERE IS MY KORORINPA 3

I can't wait to be a real adult when I'm waving colored light balls around in my living room.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

You forgot about the most important reason for the Wii's success: The games. Hype doesn't last forever, it has to be backed up by something with substance and the continued high sales of Nintendo games are proof of that.

The drop in hardware sales in 2009 due to a weak release schedule (starting in the latter half of 2008) and the resurgence at the end of the year due to killer apps make it clear that compelling software is a very big factor (I would say the most important) of the Wii's success.

Agreed. I'm just talking from a purely casual gamer perspective. They buy Wiis because they look appealing. This only accounts for a portion of the Wiis sales, but a big portion nonetheless. But, as a general rule (as my famous saying goes, "rules always have exceptions"), I agree with you.

Errr, I think playing games where you can jiggle a character's boobs with your sixaxis has much more of an embarrasment factor among mature people than playing a sports minigame with cute cartoony Miis.

mature games in the way the term is used here (and in most cases in this industry) is an oxymoron.

Wii Sports is actually a far more mature game than Madworld, No More heroes, God of War, Ninja Gaiden, Halo, Gears of War etc etc etc etc.

Sony is still trying to make games for the "Hardcore" audience while the "casual" crowd will be happy on the Wii.

Sony needs to realize just because they have their own "Wii mote" doesnt mean people will just jump ship.

I'm pretty sure the Miis from Wii Sports have more personality than Sports Champion's "uninspired random guy with an afro."

My mii has an afro so shut it!

Yeah, but it's not uninspired or random.  It's an inspired non-random Mii with an afro and personality.

Pink controllers looking like sex toys and a guy doing some stupid/gay/childish facial expression and movements on an official advertisement for your product.

Talk about embarrassment Sony...

It still has to capture the casual market. this is where I think sony and ms will fail with their motion controls. casual gamers own a wii. do casual gamers need a second console? not really. and the hardcore gamers don't who don't like the wii own a ps3/360 or both. will the hardcore anti-wii crowd really buy the motion controls that they mock? The only way these sell well is if they are packaged in with the console because then you are forced to buy.

Correct me if im wrong but doesnt Wii Sports come bundle with every Wii sold.  That doesnt make it sucessful.
