Move is a copy/inspired by Wii or Move ins't a copy/inspired by Wii poll

Yes 317 67.74%

No 151 32.26%

Total:468

I want to try to lay this matter to rest. Its a question of whether people want to argue about whether Move is a copy / not a copy for the next 12 months or if they actually want to talk about the interface.

So vote yes if you believe that Sony was inspired by/copied the Wii and Wiimote.

Vote no if you believe that Sony's inspiration was mostly internal and they would have been releasing their Move interface between end of 2010 and 2012 in the exact form factor and implementation with the exact same games they have shown off even if the Wiimote never existed.

Vote!

I voted Yes, because I dont' think it would have been released, at least in its current form, if not for the Wii success. However I do think they were working on the concept on their own prior to the Wii release.

Owner of PS4 Pro, Xbox One, Switch, PS Vita, and 3DS

What argument could anyone put forth saying Move wasn't inspired by Wii? It clearly was, and I can't imagine Sony would even deny it. They would, however, say it is a huge improvement.

You know I really don't see how else Sony could have made a motion controller any other way. I think if the wii had never done it the design of the move would have been the same, though I don't think Sony would have done it if the success of the Wii wasn't so good.

again!?!

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

The look and design is Wii inspired. The tech and configuration's original.

4 ≈ One

Fact, if there was not a Wii, there would be no Move.
If you think otherwise, you have a massive case of PS3 fanboy.

I own all of lastgen systems as of October 2008. (Finally got a Dreamcast)

I own every currentgen system except PS3.

hasnt sony been developing a wand for like 10 years,so how is that copying??How is it a copy if both were in development without any public showcases from Sony?

Next to that both work in reverse opposed to each other.
One uses a fixed Cam, the other uses a (moving) cam inside the controller

OK, I want every single damn PSMove thread that talks about it copying something locked from now on.

If you think about it from a technical perspective, then no, not to mention Sony claims it's been in the works for a while.

But from a business perspective, I doubt Sony would've released Move if it wasn't for the Wii's success.

That's my take on it.
