Maybe Virtual Reality type stuff... Nintendo could really do some amazing things with the tech now.

I don't think a hard-drive would be a downgrade from the meagre amount of storage space available at the moment. Anyway, I'd expect a huge increase in storge capacity (in some form or another) in nintendos next offering.
