Nashville had that one in the bag. Assuming the NHL is consistent, Hossa will be suspended 2 games - however, I don't expect that they will suspend him.

What Hossa did wasn't nearly as violent as what Ovechkin did.  He gave a slight nudge with one hand while Ovechkin put a forearm into Campbell's back and pushed him forward in a nasty way.  Also, if I remember correctly, that was like the fifth time that Ovechkin did that exact same thing this year.  The five minute penalty was spot on.  It was a very dangerous thing, but it did not look malicious.

I don't think that either of them were malicious. Ovechkin has done some careless things in the past, but getting suspended for trying to push Campbell off the puck is ridiculous.

I bet that nobody would have given the play a second thought if Campbell got up without injury. We see plays like these every game.

best analysis I've found on it. I can't believe the NBC announcers like to think they have so much knowledge on the sport (they were players and coaches) and A. completely leave out the puck position to the play. B. leave out the "degree of contact" (hossa had 1 hand in the guys pit) C. try and say both were from behind (still frames suggest otherwise) And then D. Suggest that Hossa should have 2 games like Ovie when Campbell said Ovie got 2 games because of priors. Hossa isn't that type of player. I hate NBC announcers they have a hard on for Crosby and Ovie. I think Hossa was a classic 2 minute boarding minor but the refs thought a major was more appropriate. Either way not a suspendable offense as obvious by the NHLs decision.

I would say Ovies was a 5 minute major compared to Hossas 2 minute minor with the difference being where the puck was and how hossas arm was extended unlike Ovie who made an obvious shoving motion. I guess if Ovie had priors the suspension was justifiable. Ovie is guilty of being an idiot while Hossa is guilty of skating hard and aggressive trying to tie the game up.

And at the same time I bet if it wasn't in the same city nobody would have given a second thought to Hossa either.

I'm jumping in here to say hoooray Penguins! Everyone seems to hate them though...

and Vancouver beats LA 4-2 tonight to win the series 4-2 and advance to the 2nd round

Nucks move onto the 2nd round, could we possibly see a rematch of Nuck and B. Hawks? Would be good

Nucks 2nd Round. Would be fun to watch the Nucks and Hawks... considering the series last year.

I'm still in shock from that epic Hawks comeback Saturday afternoon... after Hossa got that 5 min major for boarding i was 2 seconds away from just turning the game off, then i figured fuck it, i watched it all so far, might as well just stick it out to the bitter end... SO GLAD I DID!

Hawks need to close this thing out tonight, and Phoenix better kick Detroit to the curb in game 7.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

There was no fear... I was there. I'm on a 13 game win streak. If this thing makes it to game 7 I'll make it a point to attend that one. I'll call the UC up and be like "Hey... last 13 games I've attended you guys won... coincidence? I think not" and then they'll give me season tickets... Oh I could only dream...
