I've got it all put back in the box so that I can exchange it for another after work tomorrow. I seriously hope the other one isn't the same.

I'd be scared if my brick was making noise... I'd be afraid it was about to go Boom to the power of Boom..
Oh shit, KB is in your brick! |
Is your powerbrick on the carpet? Cause that will cause the fan inside the brick to spin faster therefore creating more noise.
unplug it, the power brick makes no noise unless its defective inside
...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...
PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk
really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...
to me it sounds like something awry with the inverter
probably not too dangerous (like some flourecent bulbs hum louder than others), but I wouldn't bet my house on it.
good luck with the new unit

I exchanged the 360 at Best Buy today. So now I'm gonna hook it up the new one and hope that this power supply isn't faulty, or I think we might have a new problem on our hands. Wish me luck.
EDIT: This is weird. I opened it and even though this 360 looks identical to the one I had yesterday, this box contains a free month of Xbox Live. The one I returned didn't.
ooo...leave it plugged in. Lets see what happens.
Oddly enough, I thought it was completely normal for the Xbox power supply to do this.
I bought an Xbox back in August and I my power supply has been making that noise the whole time too. I noticed it because it so loud, even after I turn my Xbox off. I just thought it was normal so I haven't done anything about it-- I haven't had any problems but I was wondering if I should exchange it out. I have a Jasper chip FYI
Most anticipated games of 2011:

They are all 110 volt power supplies in the USA. Unless you imported it from Mars its going to be 110 volts.
You may be getting different wattage thought. Xbox360 has had 3 major motherboards. 205 Watts, 175 Watts and 150 Watts for the latest Jasper model.
The 205 power supply will work with the other two but not vice versa.
On top of that Microsoft has changed the powersupply plug slightly with each revision. You can't plug them in without major modification to the plug.
Just some info for ya...
